The first mixtape from CWPT arrives courtesy of Enchanted Rhythms, the Berlin-based DJ and producer whose perhaps unbeatable knowledge of UK garage, 2-step, bass and beyond has kept the city’s more adventurous dancefloors rumbling on the low for years.

Across two-sides of this limited-edition cassette, ER skilfully keeps the energy high and the vibes wide open, mixing banging and emotional transmissions with audible love and dedication. This ain't the bandwagon sound of any ‘UK resurgence’, just near ninety-minutes of selections from a humble student-turned-master devoted to a timeless vision of the dance.

"I’m always on the hunt for obscure and interesting records. Freaky records that have lots of character and individuality about them. There is no point in paying big money for them because there are plenty of affordable options. I almost never spend more than a few euros on records.

For this mix I’ve put together a selection of varying styles that change back and forth between breakbeat and 4x4 grooves whilst trying to remain sonically coherent and always on a journey tip. In addition to a serious selection I wanted to try and incorporate different styles of mixing and phrasing to keep things interesting.

This took me a little while to put together. For me deejaying is ultimately about sharing and without parties during lockdown I hadn’t been so inspired to mix, instead spending most of my time writing tunes. I had however been steadily building this selection of bangers since April. These went through numerous refinements and finally after dusting off my skills put together in the form you hear here.

I hope you enjoy my digs.
