This is a sparse rendering of a open D minor/dorian mode, originally with a slide, on guitar and various permutations of the same take. All recorded in Logic, bass notes are the same source but played through a sampler.

This is the score for "Folly", a film by Matthew Benington's show "Building days" at ArtLacuna in Clapham, South London, in April 2018.

Hi all, this is for the new Junto project.

I have been messing about with my rig to get to a more live/looping feel in my music, by working on the guitar pedals and signal flow. Recorded in Ableton's looper, for lack of a hardware alternative.
This is a radically minimal-ised version of my recent track of the same name. It's been snowing heavily here, and that is where the inspiration & mood came from.

I added various drum sounds (one IDM-ish, heavily gated one and a 4-to-the-floor bass drum with side-chaining to the basic track) as well as e-bowed guitar.

spoonfuls (disquiet0369)

This is a track that I premiered at one of the legendary CDR Projects nights at Plastic People, London (a club with a terrific sound system that had to close a few years ago, sadly). It sounded good down there, and so it was no surprise that Martin, who puts together the brilliant Touched compilations (for Macmillan Cancer Support), chose it for the Touched Two edition in 2014, alongside Autechre, Anders Ilar, Bibio, 808 State, Cristian Vogel and other luminaries.

This tune was done predominantly on the Machinedrum (the beats), a Jazz bass and a couple of takes of electric guitar, as well.

3:3 (pillow mix)

This is an ambient guitar improv, using essentially two pedals & two sounds. Very quick editing for the intro, followed by two passes of guitars for the main bit and chunks of noisier overdubs later on, recorded at the beginning of the session and initially intended to be the musical "motif". 

This took about an hour and a bit, which is to say it's nowhere near where it could be so Junto participants' valued feedback on where to take this very much invited & appreciated! Thanks.

Replicant's Wisdom

This is based on my crunchy track "Kaverne" -- which I made using only the Elektron Machinedrum a couple of years ago. It was inspired Peter Zumthor's Therme Vals. 
I pitched & slowed that basic track down and added other elements, standout amongst these the guitar chords that I chose as the intro, and carried on playing through the whole piece. 
I layered on top of that some micro-sounds I stole from elsewhere in my personal sample library and loaded the aforementioned chordal guitar into Sampler, fading a minimal-ish high-pitched bit of that in towards the end.

A Beginning

This is comprised of a couple of motifs that I came up with playing through the Chase Bliss Audio Mood, which has become an integral part of my setup.
