Enter the Great Dark Spot with this intergalactic ride by Berlin’s Gian. The associate of @lackrec is making his mark on the dance music world with highly impressive releases so far, all of which prove he’s got a special sound. Gian has multiple solo and collaborative EPs, most recently delivering four electro/techno heaters on 2019’s LACK 018. Next up, watch out for his remix for @djfrankie63 on @LawrenceLee's @SystemA7A label. You can catch the rising artist performing across Europe, particularly Germany, and hopefully on the west coast sooner than later. Next into the series, is X-Coast who regards his - now, well established alias - more as a state of mind than an outlet for his artistry. This might go someway to explain his consistent yet unique output, that has helped him become more of a household name, than a temporary one. Despite having a brief hiatus' between his records, you'll be most aware of the Serbian-born's, 'Mango Bay', which was released all of four years ago. Since, he has been consistently serving up stellar offerings, built for your dance-floor satisfaction.

This mix, however, is more of an expression of his experimental side, exposing a more contemplative shade to his repertoire than you will have grown a-custom to. He describes this mix himself as being the latest chapter of the x-coast ambient resort simulator series, consisting of synth demos and edits of drum & bass tracks, all tied up and layered with sounds of both the Roland JD990 and fifth element movie samples. One to savour, this.

Ekiti Sound’s childhood between London and Lagos was invaluable: it was a lived experience of the recent musical dialogue between West Africa and the UK.

Spending his formative years in East London clubs, then working as a sound designer for Pinewood Studios and scoring movies within the booming Nollywood lm industry became the foundation of the album’s eclectic sound, which takes in references as varied as techno, trap and soul, while its narrative pays homage to Nigerian folklore: “I’m really focused on the preservation of our culture,” says Ekiti Sound, whose moniker was named after the region where his father was born.

The artist’s award-winning 2019 debut album ABEG NO VEX is a record whose production ingenuity nuanced a new chapter in the Afro-fusion sound, while asserting the vocalist and producer as a maverick who’s ready to keep pushing boundaries.
With ABEG NO VEX receiving support from Tom Ravencroft (BBC6 Music), Gilles Peterson (WWFM), Laurent Garnier, Afropunk and other global tastemakers, the album has built a cult fan base of DJs and diaspora ravers.

The worldwide appreciation of the album inspired Ekiti Sound to invite producers from across the globe to remix tracks. Resulting in the EP Abeg No Vex (The Remixes Vol 1), which will be released on March 6th on Crammed Discs.

The featured remixers are Canadian electronic music producer Hrdvsion (pronounced “hard vision”), London’s Stan-ley & BeatSoul and eclectic French producer & DJ Soul Edifice.

Powerful, dark and mesmerizing with a fierce undertone, that is the sound of Lostlojic on the first TECH-UM release, a project by the Deeptrax founder and Techno enthusiast Chris Roorda, aiming white labels of deeper intelligent stormy techno on very Limited Edition vinyl of only 150 pieces

Releasing under labels such as Furthur Electronix, Neo Violence or Thirty Year Records, Lostlojic is back on TECH-UM to spread his deep, funked up but ferocious sound. His experiences with different genres let him into deeper and more sophisticated realms of electronic music. His distinct sound and his experience as an excellent DJ and producer made him a perfect candidate for the first release of the newfound Frisian label. Deep sub-bass and drum-breaks with cutting, dubbed out, gloomy accents dancing together to create a poetic and hypnotic piece of art made for the dancefloor. A complete personal reflection and carefully selected project we are proud of to launch on this new Deeptrax sublabel called Tech-um!

This June Minneapolis imprint Kajunga serves up five tracks of hardware-driven dancefloor electronics from one of the city’s DIY scene mainstays, Heckadecimal.

Titled ‘Critters’, the EP from Heckadecimal sees the Always Human Tapes co-founder explore dissonant tones, warped acid and electro aesthetics throughout. Whether it’s the dense sound design and resonant leads of opener, ‘Bat Silk Stunt’, the creeping discordance of ‘D’etre’ or the more contemplative, wistful tones of ’The Luminous Flesh of Giants’ each track here is refreshingly non-standard dancefloor gear and all the better for it. Even when cracking the tried and tested 303 out, the mid-west producer confidently pushes it beyond what we’re used to.

After a stream of releases from local talent like Private Guy and Cloudy Kid, Kajunga is developing a discography that veers from slick deep house to rousing warehouse techno without skipping a beat and this EP is no different.
