This track was created in January lockdown between living rooms in Achill Island and Glasgow, after the strangest year we have ever seen.

This melodic, nostalgia-drenched single evokes memories of picking berries from the hedgerows as the last of the summer sunshine turns to crisp Autumn days. An immersive, laid-back blend of guitar, clarinet and dobro with a dusty drum backing invites the listener to pause and reflect on the easily-missed pleasures in life and the simplicity of times gone by.

Wrote this piece while protesting Russian Law in Georgia. This is how we fight for our free souls. Georgia will never be Russia!

We Survive

This piece first of all, is about emotions; you can interpretate it as two persons dialogue, or one person monologue (arguing with their own selves.)
Personally, my idea was two persons dialogue, I wanted to represent one of the most pressing and urgent problem of this society – misunderstanding. A misunderstanding is what happens when you don’t comprehend something correctly, also another name for a disagreement. Of course, misunderstanding lead to “issues”. My first mission was to creating this process of “misunderstanding” in music. Sometimes misunderstanding can happen even between people who are very similar in character. So, Oboe- which you can equate with a person, has misunderstanding and disagreement with “another oboe” (- electronics represent another oboe. ) 
The piece is made with only Oboe sounds, because I wanted to create this organic space, in which you could just focus on Oboe sound and also feel this misunderstandable dialog. Also at some points, I wanted to represent only one-side overthinking. The main reason creating this piece is to show in music how it is possible to speak with someone, who listens but can’t understand what you mean and how you feel.
 For that, first I created the instrumental part to paint one-side opinion and then I used this instrumental part to create the second side of this conversation.  The format of this piece is “questions and answers”- instrumental part is asking, electronic part is answering. But I  did not want to just have this question and answer  situation, so I created two layers of electronics. Background electronics- panning and pulsation- To express the tension between this two persons, and main electronics-  which are answers. 
In order to express the discomfort of this dialogue, I “drew” persons, who have a hard and heavy characteristics  and it is difficult for them to convey what they have to say.

Misunderstanding

Wipe The Tears From Your Eyes

The inspiration for this piece is novel by Johann Wolfgang Goethe “The Sorrows of Young Werther”. The novel presents a romantic protagonist. Werther in some sense is a subjective reflection of Goethe’s own self. 
I did not literally followed the novel. I wanted to create my own story using Werther.  So, Werther is Werther, all his characteristics are the same in my musical piece as in Goethe’s “Werther”.  
For my musical piece, I wanted to create situation as if Werther is looking in the mirror before suicide and tries to understand himself. As in novel, Werther usually spends his days feeling everything in extremes. When he is happy in something, even something seemingly minuscule, he is overjoyed by it.  When he is saddened by something (or someone), he is inconsolable. Each disappointment pushes him nearer and nearer to the edge, of which Werther himself seems to be aware and almost welcoming. So, I wanted to paint a situation, where he is realizing and analyzing everything, where he tries to convince himself not to do what he did, but loses his sane self, because in that moment for him everything becomes pointless. I added mirror In this case, because first of all, physically, mirrors reflect light and thus reflect the world around us. Spiritually, light has symbolic attachment to illumination, awareness and wisdom etc. Therefore, in term of spiritual symbolism, mirrors reflect truth. 
In my piece, Werther is looking in the mirror before suicide to perceive himself, to stay sane, but from this mirror he is seeing the truth – his own shadow who is speaking to him and convincing him to kill himself. I think that every person has a will to be alive and to live. So, for my piece I wanted to show the listener that deep down Werther wants to live. But unfortunately, his own shadow and reflection from mirror is convincing him to kill himself. 
I chose solo piece, even though technically here are two characters – Werther and his own shadow, his inner self.  I chose Bass-clarinet, because for me it corresponds perfectly to Werther and his shadow. 
In piece, you can’t really divide shadow and main character.

Enda McGloin is a singer songwriter from Co. Leitrim, Ireland. Enda is a prolific award winning songwriter and poet, releasing a 32 poem collection, ‘A Joyful Sadness’. 

Two of Enda’s compositions were released by Eurovision finalists Inchequin. 

Enda has performed his songs at gigs and festivals from Aberdeen to Madrid, Basel  to Plzen. He launched his debut release ‘Lucid’ in   April 2018 with a concert in the C.O.I. Kinlough. With live radio performances including Shannonside with Charlie McGettigan (Eurovision winner) and Ocean Fm with Marion Fitzgerald and much airplay and festival appearances, including headlining the Stoney Woods Festival Concert, Kiltyclogher, Fiddler’s Green, Rostrevor, the Jamboree, Plzen, Czech  Republic and El Retiro, Madrid. 

Enda and his band won the Ballyshannon Folk Festival New Music Award in 2022. 

With his second release ‘Jewels & Stones’ coming out in 2025, a 10 song Album, as well as two collections of audio poems, there is much more to come from this song and word smith.
