We are welcoming Manie Dansante, a booking agency created 4 years ago by De Ward and supported by many great human beings all along the way. Gathering international Live performers, Producers and Dj's, accompanying artists into a solid but also organic growth is the core idea of the house. We are delighted to invite Elena Sizova from Belarus and Retrograde Youth from Colombia, two local heroes who kept receiving more and more attention before the sudden crash from last year. Weird times for weirdos.

Elena Sizova is a belarusian artist based in Minsk with more than 15 years of djing across Europe. Teacher during the day at Minsk university, she prorogates her classes in slightly different rooms during the weekends. Solo productions but also coproductions with Gerald
Donald among others, her taste for experimental and acid gives spaces to telluric experiences on the dancefloor.

group A is a Tokyo experimental electronics, minimal wave & violin female duo band formed by Tommi Tokyo, Sayaka Botanic.  
Tommi Tokyo (synth, drum machine, vocals) and Sayaka Botanic (violin, tapes and sampler) released 2 studio albums and 1 live album in Tokyo, before to move in Berlin in 2016. With their mixture of dark minimal synth, avant-noise, striking visuals and performance art, the duo still carries on the very breath of early industrial pioneers such as Throbbing Gristle, Die Form, Klinik, Cabaret Voltaire.

Their first release coming on 2012 with a series of  self releases until 2015. Then Mannequin Records had a vinyl release in 2017 called “group a”.  Kashual Plastik released on 2018 Circulation EP.  2 years later in 2020 we find them again on Alessandro Adrianni's  Mannequin Records with the release “anOther”.
The same year, released  a vinyl edition of group A's first full length studio album self-released in October 2013 only in CDR format. 9 tracks of genuine experimental minimal electronics. 
 The following mix  drive us on an one-hour journey of industrial, experimental, outlandish beats and avant garde sounds with an idiosygrasic attidute. Enjoy!

Acidic Male has an interest in industrial sounds, hypnotic drum patterns and experimental vocals. Having her performer name as a revenge title, she searches to “other” herself into the position of a poetic perpetrator. Her sounds have been described as “elegant industrial”, yet in her selections she attempts to showcase her love for genre-wide experimentalism.

A talented and unique producer, Acidic Male has been gaining recent attention for all the right reasons. A strong EP on Dead channel accompanied by a string of self released work, she is winning the ears of DJ's and labels far and wide. Look out for her upcoming record on Drug Cvltvres New York Haunted imprint. You can catch Acidic Male in the flesh at Conflux Festival this year.

A leading member of her home city’s We Are Radar party collective, she combines all aspects of the electronic sphere to carve out her own style. She has performed at leading clubs and festivals as Berghain, De School, Tresor, Golden Pudel, Dekmantel and Nachtdigital, Digital Tsunami, Boiler Room, and others. In addition to having extensive experience in booking and event management, she has brought out music on top-shelf labels such as Pinkman, both as herself as well as her collaborative alias Radiation 30376, a split EP on Dalmata Daniel, and more. The current transmission from the Squirrels On Film universe is Nezzy Idy's full-length album presented on glorious magnetic cassette tape. Emit Idy, along with the rest of the Oakland based Katabatik collective's music, events & DIY community ethos have been a consistent inspiration for many in the Bay Area electronic music scene, & The Squirrels are delighted & honored to bring this album to the wider world.

From the sonic miasma of opener “Ateh,” with its banshee wails & scrap metal synths, into the kaleidoscopic boogie of “Hallow” & “Prometheus,” Idy explores early Industrial, Cold Wave & Acid House textures. “Contumacy” & “Nyquest” add elements of Electro to the cauldron, conjuring spirits, emotion & drama from his vocals drum machines & synthesizers. “Teeth” goes full-on Warehouse Rave, evoking the sweaty late night illicit undergrounds that once drew wide-eyed revelers from all over the Bay Area to the seemingly abandoned industrial dark corners of a pre-gentrification Oakland, California every weekend. “Y Is The Sign” & “Systemic Volume” are hallucinatory funk workouts & “Xiolin” comes full-circle back to the radiant sound-collage of the opener.

The album features original artwork from Squirrels On Film resident image magician Bert Bergen & will be available digitally & in a limited run of cassettes, so fire up the Tascam or make sure the Walkman has fresh batteries, press play, enjoy the wow & flutter until it's time to rewind, & flip the tape & start the journey again

Nezzy Idy- "Unveiled" Clips

This week on the GF series is the talented DJ and musician Gael. The Berlin-based artist is known for her distinctive blend of techno and experimental electronics, delivered with energy and style. As a producer, she's featured on labels such as Standard Deviation, System, Topot, Meta Moto, Minor Adjustments, Kashev Tapes, and most recently a shared track with Egzotikka on the newly launched Comme des Larmes VA. She combines this stellar body of work with scores, installations, and live performances under her alias shemovesshe. Her touring schedule is pleasantly packed with appearances at Berghain, Oxi Club, Institut Fuer Zukunft, Mala Junta, and native ∄ where she is also holding a residency at a queer party ХІТЬ. Lock in for an hour of raw, atom-splitting electronics.

Galactic Funk Podcast 103 - Gael

The second release in our series of Split EPs comes from Marcos Cabral & Daniel Araya and features two tracks from each artist. New York's Cabral is known for his experimental IDM and techno on labels like L.I.E.S. while Daniel Araya has recently released an album of acid, techno and industrial on the Classicworks label and is well known for his outputs on Borft records or Kontra Musik. 

Araya's 'We Almost Lost Detroit' is first and is a truly haunted deep techno cut with sparse acid undulations and a real sense of manic in the rasping synth lines. Softer pads in the background only add to the spooky nature of the track. 'Ghost Bass' is the other Araya cut and this one is more up on its toes, with mid tempo kicks down low and wonky chords up top. It's a mind melting tune that trips deep into the night. 

'Live At The Egg' is Cabral's first effort and is a lonely and icy techno track that is supple and seductive in its long lines and paddy drums. After getting you into a state of hypnosis, some freaky vocal sounds only add to the unsettling nature of it all later on. 'Cuts & Bruises' rounds things out in squelchy and depraved techno territory. Muted acid stabs are off in the distance as swampy drums suck you in from the front. It’s a brilliantly odd tune that close out a fine EP.

The cold wind howled along the inside of the tunnel and she shuddered slightly beneath the strain of the chill. The mountain region was home to a flurry of short rocky pathways which went beneath the towering giants that loomed above. Carved into the rock these man made holes created an intricate crossing without the need for vertical climbing and exploration amidst the peaks. Outside the snow continued to fall heavily from the dark and gloomy skies...

Fina Records return with a fresh EP from Paso, an intriguing prospect which features originally crafted club tracks and an innovative take upon house music in the present day.

Every music lover feels a specific, even if sometimes undeserved, sense of achievement when they discover an obscure and underrated artist. So we were particularly stoked when we caught wind of France-based Marc Bianco. The little-known producer is about to again release an EP for French label Moonrise Hill Material – an imprint whose tracks we’ve premiered before – and the record is top quality. The five-tracker is made up of structurally diverse tracks that nevertheless unify under an aesthetic umbrella of sample-heavy, gritty and jazzy sounds.

Our premiere is the last and longest track on the record and probably our favourite, too, Harland Jam. Wonderfully fluent keys as well as splashy percussion staple this track, which you could imagine as the soundtrack for a hybrid jazz-house club. Perhaps it’s most impressive for it’s delicate balance of continuity and change: for the background-listener, the track could sound monotonous, but with a bit more attention the song’s dynamism and slow incline is clear. The track subtly picks up at around 2m30s, with energetic drum fills and keyboard jamming on top of the groovy three-chord progression that repeats throughout.

The record, called Serious Mass, will be the label’s ninth release. If you’re into modern and daring house records with an old-school feel, you’ll probably find it worth a purchase.
