@lil_taty1 is Belgrade based producer and DJ who emerged on the scene during spring 2013. His music is heavily influenced by UK club music in its most sinister shape, yet manages to find it's own niche among the contemporary club movement.
He is a co-founder of Minor Adjustments records alongside Bolelee and founder of MURK podcast - mix series which discover fresh and exciting DJs from both the local and international underground scenes. With influences ranging from Fugazi to Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Lil Taty is a man with a taste for audacious sound, which is reflected in both his DJ sets and productions for the likes of Clan Destine, SEAGRAVE, Classical Trax and heel.zone. He produces music under various pseudonyms besides Lil Taty: BOTANIKA, Smetnja, DJ ANA KOURNIKOVA and more...

The next artist on the series is Chlorys; a sensitive soul from Bucharest's underground. She's a member of the Queer Night family of DJs, founder of the Bucharest-based Corp. platform, and a resident on Noods Radio, with the show Alien Flora. Over the years, she's shared the stage with heavyweights like DJ Stingray, Lena Willikens, Eris Drew, Sentimental Rave, and many others. Chlorys describes her recording as "a delicate exploration through esoteric landscapes, deconstructed rhythms, and dark menacing synth lines." It's a psychedelic trip we've had on repeat for a few weeks. Lock in!

Dreamy and alluring, Dissemblance’s distinct compositions are suspended somewhere between introspective melancholia and the shadowy edges of the human soul. Her debut album Over the Sand’s (Mannequin Records, 2019) artful blend of different genres makes it one of the finest releases in the contemporary synth wave scene. Drawing inspiration from a universe made from asperity, she uses drum machines, enigmatic vocals, solid basslines, and field recordings to play with the unexpected. Dissemblance recorded a mix for us, in which she takes us on a journey through the various stages of her life that shaped her musical taste, from early raves in France to Karlheinz Stockhausen’s experimental work. At the same time, it can serve as an invitation to her live performance for the next Intergalactic FM Festival, as well as her forthcoming second album.

The next transmission from the Squirrels On Film universe is a very special digital only extended play from a producer who is as prolific as he is obscure to the wider world. Billy Bates aka Mr Saturday aka the half of Zonetech who isn't C.l.a.w.s. aka former goth punk synth punk in The Vanishing, is the kind of person who sends you 2 gigabytes of unreleased jamz every couple months & it's legit ALL KILLER. The decision to share some of this bounty with the headz was easy, the hard part was deciding which joints to drop first. For every five Billy-Bangers there are twenty more but we are overjoyed to unleash these five for the solo debut of one of our absolute favorite musicians & people, hardware live set party-rocker, Black Metal Techno Mystery Man, & Digital Dub Dad...

“Another Beautiful Day In The Apocalypse” kicks things off. A motorik mid-tempo floor banger, it's the sound of drunk-driving a go-cart down the autobahn in drag. Big blown-out drums, like whackingg trash cans in an empty warehouse, and a driving Moroder-esque groove but as if Giorgio had few too many. Then there's the broken oscillator guitar solo that goes on top of everything, creating dark punk disco that's unhinged & extraordinarily fun. Just as with the Zonetech EP from last year, the drum programing is unique & excellent here & throughout these five songs, it always recognizable as dance music, but avoids the cookie-cutter, bland & beige moves that we hear in far too much stuff out there.

“Sunsets Of Doom” is a distorted breakdance jam given a heavy dub treatment. Extreme exploding delays in all directions for that proper popper hit, huddled up way too close to the bass bin. If Mad Professor got a chance to dub out Mantronix for the rejected Escape From New York soundtrack, that's what we have here.

“I Don't Want To Go Outside” is lost 80s dancehall rhythm for the goth club. The drums could be straight off a Sly Dunbar Compass Point session. It's a slow pulsating groove that decidedly avoids the four on the floor for the first part of the song. Someone invited Kevin Shields to this session to rip out woozy clouds of distorted guitar noise over the beat & Goth-Digi-Dub was born. This track has been a favorite of the Squirrels Family for a long time & it's finally getting out into the world.

“Dancing As The World Burns” brings us to the disco. It's a full-on dance-floor ripper, but in the mold of Throbbing Gristles Hot On The Heals Of Love. This one is for the all disc jockeys who've been waiting patiently to get back to making the kids sweat with ecstatic love & abandon.

“One Day We Will Be Ok” stays at the club. It's a lysergic shuffler, acid house at its finest and funkiest. Layers of red-lined drum machines underscore the timeless squelch of Roland's silver bassline box, tabs on the tongues, butts shaking at the after-party, bring down the walls.

This very special release has been a long time coming & we think it's worth the wait. Take a trip into the mind of Billy Bates, you'll be glad you did.
