Frankie Knuckles - RIP - March 31, 2014

Knuckles delved into his archives and unearthed a set from 1990 for XLR8R.com that was recorded at the Sound Factory in New York. As a result, the mix touches upon some of the tunes that I began my raving days dancing to in the underground clubs of London.

This set is filled plenty with familiar tropes; piano melodies, uplifting rhythms, soulful vocals, and heavy nods to funk and disco dominate the proceedings.

Simply put, it's Knuckles doing what made him such an important figure in the first place, and doing it extremely well.

Frankie Knuckles passed away on March 31st 2014 at 59 years old due to complications with diabetes. Frankie was considered the 'Godfather' of house music and his style is funky and soulful. Enjoy this curated selection of his work, courtesy of FLOOR⁴ #F2t4
