Dark Entries is proud to present the debut album by Figure Study, a contemporary band from New York. Figure Study is the Manhattan duo of Nathan Antolik and April Chalpara, who share writing and production duties, while April handles the vocals. They began the project in 2009, after meeting one another through the Wierd Records weekly party, where they would play their first concert soon after. While their debut 7" contained two songs recorded in 2009, this full length contain all new material recorded throughout the past year. 
For their debut self-titled album Figure Study utilize a small, simple analog synthesizer set up of all vintage Roland analog synths and drum machines. April's elegant vocals glide through the hazy shadows of a distant, emotionless world. Songs flux between pulsating and saturnine, each carrying a sense of urgency and modernism.   Figure Study's sound includes influences from underground new wave music such as Kirlian Camera, Nine Circles, and The Actor.
All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP is housed in a specially designed jacket by N. Antolik and includes an insert with lyrics. Figure Study draw their own model using shapes and forms from the synthetic landscape.

Mick Wills is no stranger to Frigio Records, the German Dj and producer has turned his hand to edits and remixes on previous releases and now arrives with his own 12” of edits for the volumen 4th of the label’s Ecdisis series. The source material for the two pieces on offer comes from Brazil’s Simbolo, a band formed in 1988 and still active with a career spanning more than thirty years, was a central player in South America’s EBM and Synth scene.
Wills has selected two tracks from the Brazilian’s back catalogue, the first being “Mind.” Industrial influences come immediately to the fore, complex drum patterns give way to a juddering groove in which guttural vocals depict a scene of hurt and pain. “Synchrono”
occupies the flip. Taken from the 1995 album, In the Danger Zone, the original two minute piece is extended into a seven plus minute epic. Following on from “Mind”, “Synchrono” melts stuttering bass-lines and textured percussion with indecipherable lyrics counter-balancing heady strings. Two cuts of emotive and impacting electronics.

Abandos began as the brainchild of Kyle Marchiafava. After releasing a 7" on Bruised Tongue in addition to another 7" later in 2014, the band rebranded itself in January of 2015. Kyle made the switch to use an MPC 1000 in lieu of a live drummer and bassist, as many lineup changes had plagued Abandos from the start.

After stripping down to just an MPC, Wes Russel of Hot Guts was brought aboard to Abandos on guitar; "Nurture" being the first release of their material in this lineup. The style of music they produce in this way is heavily influenced by genres of EBM and synthpunk, with unique character added to it by way of Wes' guitar work and Kyle's vocal tone.

Along with the original, the full EP – which will be arriving via the Downwards label – includes several reworks of the track, including this ominously lithe remix from Regis.
