- Razor clamming will have morning tides starting this weekend! Low water is about 7am, so be on the beach at daylight for limits before breakfast. If weather is descent, round out your morning with some perch fishing. 
- Spring salmon has been slow with all the rain and high water. Most fish that have been caught are close to the beach. There's only 11 days left in the scheduled season, and the fishing should improve as the rivers drop and weather warms.
- Mark talks trolling in dirty water and how to set up your bait to present the best behind a flasher.
- Washington lakes have been stocked with trout. A great weekend activity for the whole family!

- The main herring run came and left within a few days earlier in the month. Small schools are hanging around the South Beach side of the bay and the bite remains slow to poor. We have plenty of sabiki rigs for sale here at the store, so stop by!
- Inshore rockfish and lingcod fishing has been good when weather permits. Fishing off the jetty in Newport has been productive. We recommend a Lancer Jig if you’re targeting lingcod.
- For river steelhead, fishing in the local rivers remains slow and seems to be coming to an end. Local guides are reporting one fish to no fish a day on the Siletz and no better on the Alsea. The Wilson, Nestucca, and Nehalem are still producing a few fish, but it remains slow to fair. We have lots of steelhead gear still in stock— B&R soft beads, West Coast Floats, and Aero jigs to name a few. We also have bulk line and can fill just about any reel on our line machine.
- Reservoirs and lakes are being stocked with trout this spring! In Newport, 1,998 legal trout will be stocked in the lower Big Creek reservoir the week of April 14th through the 18th.

- Spring salmon: Lots of people fishing, but not many fish being caught. This weekend is the last before the season closes on Sunday. Water is starting to clear, so you may have a decent chance to catch some springers.
- Razor clamming: The next tentative Washington razor clam digs start on the 13th, waiting on confirmation now. Oregon beaches are open daily and the digging has been good. 
- Surf perch: Lots of folks fishing off the beach and hitting limits! A combination of baits, sand shrimp, gulf worms, and a fresh razor clam, all seemed to be working. 
- Bottom fishing: This weekend should be a good one to get out, just make sure to watch for debris, lots of prop-stopping junk in the water.

- Razor clamming is open from the Washington border to Cascade Head in Oregon. Domoic acid levels have been trending in the right direction south of Cascade Head, so get your shovels ready! We are stocked up with all your razor clamming needs from clam guns and shovels to waders and wading boots.
- The spring herring run seems to be over, so it’s time to plan for a different fishery. The steelhead run seem also to have come to an end.
- Red tail surf perch off the local beaches has been good. We have everything you need to catch ‘em. Surf rod combos, sand spikes, and Gulp sand crabs & sandworms. 
- Reservoirs and lakes are being stocked with trout this spring! In Newport, Big Creek reservoir will be stocked the week of April 14th through the 18th.

Newport Englund Marine Fishing Report 040425

Good morning from England Marine and Industrial Supply, I'm Mark Ackerill. This is your Friday morning fish report.

Spring salmon fishing has been extended starting today through Sunday, and then Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The river has been up and dirty, but dropping and clearing every day. The fishing should be good and getting better. Counts over Bonneville have been increasing, the test fisheries have been better, and the tides this weekend are good for morning anchor or bank fishing and afternoon trolling.

Razor clam digging in Washington opens Saturday morning. Low water is about 8 a.m., so on the beach by 6.30. The weather and the surf look beautiful for some family clam digging. Sunday looks amazingly nice. Oregon beaches are open every day and digging has been good on both sides of the river.

Perch have been on the bite and they are a great addition to the limit of razor clams. A rod and reel with a two hook crappie rig, a weight and bait are all you need to have some delicious perch fillets. Fresh clam necks, Berkeley gulp sand worms, and sand shrimp will all put fish on the beach. 

The charter boats that got out last weekend slammed limits of lingcod and rockfish. This weekend's morning low water might make it a little rough to get out early, but the rest of the day should be great. If you're headed down south to the lighthouse, be sure and check the new limits and regs. England Marine has handouts on the reel counter. 

So much to choose from to do this weekend. Good morning from Englund Marine and Industrial Supply in Newport. This is Greg King with your Friday Morning fishing report.

Inshore rockfish and lingcod fishing was hot last Friday and Saturday thanks to good weather and a calm ocean. The fantastic bottom fishing should continue this spring when weather permits.

Ocean chinook are being caught by recreational fishermen right now out of Newport in several spots. These salmon are the perfect fish for your spring barbeque. The commercial chinook salmon season opened out of Newport on April 10th. 

Stop by the store; we just received a big order of Short Bus Flashers and have a huge assortment of salmon gear to choose from. Whether it be a salmon, rockfish, lingcod, or halibut, we’ve got the gear you need.

Newport Englund Marine Fishing Report 041125

Good morning and Happy Easter from Englund Marine and Industrial Supply and Mark Akerill this is your Friday morning fish report.

The spring salmon extension that ended yesterday in the Columbia provided some pretty awesome fishing and catching. However another extension is questionable at this point. The Lewis, Cowlitz, White salmon, Kalama and wind rivers are all forecast to have good spring salmon returns on the Washington side. 

Razor clamming has been good on both the Oregon and Washington side. If you haven’t got in on the recent clam digs you still have time to go today. Low water is around ten thirty so on the beach around nine. It’s the last day to dig in Washington but Oregon beaches are still open every day.

Wind weather and surf look pretty awesome for bottom fishing this weekend. From the jetties to the lighthouse or something out a lot deeper the bite should be awesome. Be sure to check regulations for where you are fishing  and make sure you have to have a descending device ready to use. 

Area one halibut season opens May first and is open every Thursday, Friday and Sunday through June twenty ninth or until the quota is caught. South of cape falcon you can fish halibut seven days a week from May first until July thirty first or until the quota is caught, which has never happened.

Good morning from Englund Marine and Industrial Supply in Newport. This is Greg King with your Friday Morning fishing report.

Inshore rockfish and lingcod fishing continues to be wide open out of Newport and Depoe Bay when the ocean cooperates. 

Big Creek Reservoir in Newport has been stocked this week with trout and should make for some great fishing this weekend. Come by the store, and we’ll show you the best methods for catching those trout.

Ocean chinook are being caught out of Newport. The summer ocean chinook regulations out of Newport have been decided. Through June 6th, you can keep two chinook. Starting June 7th, chinook retention will be limited to one chinook as part of your daily salmon bag limit. If you need salmon gear stop by the store and see us! We are fully stocked up with plenty of the latest gear.

041825 Newport Friday Fish Report

Good morning from Englund Marine and Industrial supply and Mark Akerill this is your Friday morning fish report.

Razor clamming looks awesome this weekend. Early low water Saturday is around 6am, so be on the beach at daylight. Washington beaches open Saturday for morning tides only. Oregon razor clamming remains open daily.

Perch fishing has been really good. Some fresh clam necks, Gulp sand worms or sand shrimp will all put some fish in your bag. It doesn’t take anything fancy: a spinning rod and reel that will handle up to three ounces of lead, a double hook rig, lead and bait and you’re in 'em!

Bottom fishing has been amazing but this weekend’s early morning low water could make for a rough morning bar crossing. If you plan on going leave a little late, and let things settle down. Mark details what to use, both down south and out in deeper water.

Halibut season opens Thursday to a huge minus tide around 10am. Big tides will mean a fast drift over the halibut grounds so be sure to have the heavy leads out. A spreader bar and a short leader with a big hook or hooks is the easy way to fish. Matched up with a good juicy bait of herring, squid, salmon belly or whatever you should find some fish. 

If you’re going halibut or bottom fishing come check out all the new Halibut and bottom fish rigs available at the store. Electric reels are in stock. Plenty of rods just arrived. And there is plenty of perch gear as well.

Good morning from Englund Marine and Industrial Supply in Newport. This is Greg King with your Friday Morning fishing report.

If only the wind would let up, fishing for Rockfish remains excellent. A lot of boats remained tied to the dock due to high winds and rough seas. On the days it does die down be prepared for some red-hot fishing. The lingcod and rockfish are thick, and they are biting off shore on our local reefs. If you need gear for those calm days that are coming, stop by the store we will get you hooked up with all the stuff you need to catch ‘em. 

All of our local lakes and reservoirs have been stocked with lots of trout—Eckman Lake, Devils Lake, and Big Creek to name a few. Get those kids out of the house and take them fishing. 
Halibut opens May 1st off our coast. You’ll be able to keep 2 halibut per day, and the fishery is open 7 days a week through July 31st or until the quota is met.

The Newport Saltwater Seminar at Englund Marine will be held this Saturday, April 26th! Doors open at 7:30 and the first speaker starts at 8:15. There will be 4 speakers discussing all sorts of ocean fishing techniques. A Lowrance Elite 9 chartplotter, a Penn electric reel and Ugly Stik rod combo, and many other prizes will be raffled off at the end of the seminar. Attendance is all that is required to enter the raffle. Free lunch will be provided.
