So am I a butterfly dreaming I am an old man, or am I an old man dreaming I am a butterfly? Maybe neither? Maybe both? The simultaneity of suffering and happiness becomes a lucid dreamscape where there are no lines drawn in the sands of my life. (And if there were they seem to have been obliterated by the weather.) As the summer sun beats down on me, it is nothing more than a star that has its day, then recedes. But the lupine shares my woes as its flowers wilt in the unseasonable heat. I have put more water out for the birds and wildlife. Two yearling rabbits are no longer wary of me, as they rest in the shade. It took me laughing at them several times, for them to realize I was one of them. In that relative sense of sharing a greenspace with them haha. Glad you dropped by. It has been a quiet summer in the fray of the busyness of the world. So far anyway. Oh yes, the song…. Well I decided to explore some new rhythm vibes this summer, making up chords if need be. I had gotten away from that during the pandemic, and then lost motivation to play music at all. Such is the life of an old gardener. I needed to work outside and tend to things otherwise forgotten. Now that the garden is planted, my gardening planting chores are behind me. I returned to my old guitar. This is the second summer song to come from our reunion. A poem actually, to celebrate being alive. Is she a woman dreaming she is a bird or a bird dreaming she is a woman? I’ll never tell. Hope all is well with you, wherever the moment finds you, Mark

Liebe Musikbegeisterte, dieser Song war eigentlich gar nicht so gedacht. Ursprünglich sollte es nur eine Bridge zwischen zwei Liedern werden. Auf magische weise hat sich das Stück aber verselbstständigt. So ist aus ein paar Takten ein ganzer Track geworden. Überraschend. Ein weiterer Titel aus meiner Island Suite.
