Fifteenth digital release by Secret Keywords belongs to Backlogs. The Italian producer based in Taranto, also resident DJ at Sound Department, comes back to Gianmarco Silvetti's imprint after two years, with his first release "LNWSD" (remixed by the mighty Conrad Van Orton) he had already demonstrated to got a hard and raw sound, inspired by the Neapolitan 90's underground. "Retrospective", this is the name of the single, is made up of four original tracks, four different moods, able to bring us back to the same context, where music was the symbol of revolt. UK techno don Jay Clarke joins the Soma ranks with The Kicker. Jay has started making his mark on the global techno scene with some serious releases via the awesome Klockworks label, and of course his own BLACKAXON imprint. Jay’s sound is characterised by elements of straight-up intense techno, blended with deeper Detroit-esque elements, culminating in a unique and well-produced style.

Straight Through opens up Jay’s Soma account and focuses firmly on the dance floor. Looped out, driving percussive elements push the track as hypnotic synths keep the rhythm flowing. Overlook has a tribalistic feel to it as wooden percussion work into a perfectly orchestrated groove allowing chopping hi hats and rides to deliver intensity as swelling atmosphere keep things ominous. Taking things down a deeper path, The Spark bounds with a well-crafted groove as spatial synth work brings more melodic and emotive aspects to the forefront. Title track The Kicker offers up the most diverse sounding cut on the EP with broken beat rhythms and discordant, almost jazzy synths breathing a distinct life throughout the track.

This week on Enigma we are proud to announce a mix from Duvz, A Dj & Producer from Dublin with a taste for the darker side of things combining elements of EBM and Techno in both his dj sets and productions, taking influence from the likes of Slam, Inhalt Der Nacht, Cleric, Surgeon and more.

Duvz has put a lot of time into crafting out his own unique sound, having completed courses with Doug Cooney in Real Sound Ireland, The Sound Training College & Will Kinsella's Elevator Program, and winning the Soma Records x Splice Producer Challenge in 2019, with his original track "Enough". 

Having already played support to acts such as Hybrasil, Moduse, Dj Deece, Bowsie and Felix da Housecat in venues such as Earth Nightclub Drogheda, The Sound House, The Wright Venue and Flame Festival, as well as having his own radio shows on Phever.ie and HouseTech Radio, Duvz began running his own events under his Platform Dublin brand in late 2019, hosting people such as SLV (DE), Endlec & Ôneyra to date with plenty more in the pipeline.
