The Man Who Did And Didn't

And now this is the concluding track 10, "Stay with Me", in my just completed album "New Beginning" (2024): composed in Garage Band iOS in the late evening of 3 March 2024 and arranged, mixed and recorded in Logic Pro in the late evening of 4 March 2024, with final arrangement and mix in Logic Pro in the late evening of 5 March 2024, by Alex M, then posted on SoundCloud on 7 March 2024 (together with the album as a whole).

The album artwork cover, also used as the cover of each constituent track, was created in PowerPoint and annotated in Mac OS Preview on 19 July 2023 (and 5 January 2024, changing the year from 2023 to 2024 in the brackets of the album title).

Stay with Me

This is another track for my "Clutha Project" series - music and/or lyrics evoked by my childhood and family links to the River Clyde. 

In this case I was  playing with my new musical acquisitions - "String Murmurations" and "Small String Gestures" by the Crow Hill Company (they are fab!) - and I fell into thinking of the rhythm of the tides and how they connect (and affect) folk all around the world. At some point in every river's journey, it meets the tidal power of the moon and sun and becomes a party to that twice-a-day rising and ebbing that affects all estuary and coastal life.

On the Clyde (as with all rivers of the world) , sandbanks appear and disappear, water channels change their courses, vessels come and go, birds feed and depart, children play in rockpools, all to the rhythm of the slow swelling and departing of these tides every day. This track tries to capture that slow rhythm that most of us take for granted and the beauty that it contains.
