Team Zapata — the brother duo of Juan and Hugo Zapata — are long-standing pillars of Washington DC’s underground house community. For decades, they’ve shaped the city’s sound through their warm, groove-rich take on deep house, staying true to the musical legacy that has made DC one of the world’s most respected hubs for soulful, underground house culture.

From early vinyl sessions to today’s hybrid sets, the Zapata brothers have built their reputation through consistency, taste, and a deep understanding of dance-floor energy. Juan — regarded by many as one of the most influential figures in DC’s house movement — has been DJing, mentoring, and cultivating spaces for the music longer than most can remember. Hugo, equally essential, brings sharp curation, technical precision, and a shared dedication to keeping real house music alive in its pure form.

Beyond DJing, Team Zapata have been central in event organising, sound reinforcement, community-building and supporting countless artists, ensuring that DC’s underground remains vibrant and accessible.
