Only human artifacts are left, scattered across a freshly ploughed field. At first they appear as disturbances. But in time, with the field harvested and left bare, they become sheltering oases filled with moisture. Everything feels weird and confusing. I am a lost fruit fly returning from an adventure, emotionally attached to a morphing image of a place that changes and yet stays the same. And the home I return to is and is not my home anymore. I am a mere inconsistency, an accident. Meanwhile, the clay heap keeps moving, the trees keep talking. And the resin drips…”

Dj bingo aka Ninja Priest is a Brno(CZ)-based producer and a DJ. Oscillating between soft cute melodies and epic EDM kicks, his contrasting music appeared on compilations by BCAAsystem, Unizone, Soft or Swine World. The upcoming EP to be released on BCAAsystem is a sensitive conceptual walk through buzzing of distorted space-time, an uncanny landscape that’s always there yet beyond our grasp.

DjSport has the pleasure of welcoming Raphael for an hour mix in this month's edition.  

Raphael (Rodriguez) is an A&R, curator and label/artist manager based between Barcelona and Berlin. Across physical spaces and recorded mediums, he has contributed to various events, festivals and labels, amongst others managing the label PAN between 2018 and 2022. 
He is one of the co-founders of Swiss-based label and collective Danse Noire along with Aisha Devi - a structure dedicated to publishing exploratory, music-related works since 2013.

Raphael shares that this mix is ¨a rollercoaster of everything that moves me, metallic feedbacks + subs on top of subs + magical verses & generous screams.

Russia's angelwave princess Polina Zhukova AKA ccontrary stepping up with a dreamy LP for ПИР that follows her excellent mixes on NTS and Rinse and an EP on Los Angeles' TAR label.

"ADHD" was inspired not by the disorder as such but rather by childhood in general, growing up as a concept. And the music here has just the right amount of that naivety; it's atmospheric and nostalgia-inducing. There's a firm nod to early 90s chillout, as well as contemporary trance mutations, Shanghai scene, conceptronica, and even dusty 2-step flex that brings Burial to mind.

This is a concise and strong gesture from a young artista coming into her own. See you in post-COVID chillout rooms and at those Minecraft raves that we'll surely see more of.

"'You Look So Serious' engages with Enya's 'Watermark' Album from 1988. Based on a copy of her album on cassette tape, Florian T M Zeisig reconstructs and remixes her album of 39:42 minutes. 'You Look So Serious' is the result of a painstaking process, cutting 'Watermark' into 426, four second long cassette tape loops. Loops were chosen, arranged and mixed together to re-compose the material in order to translate and reinterpret Enya's hyper-produced and widespread success."

Originally released on cassette by Cassauna in 2018.
