Still a work in progress but here is an extended 5 minute version of Dawn On Europa. I'm combining influences from industrial bands like Nurse With Wound and drone rock like Sunn :0)))

Day time on Europa:

"The data show that midday temperatures at Europa's equator reach about -225 degrees Fahrenheit (130 degrees Kelvin). The surface is even colder toward the poles and before or after midday. Small patches of different colors on Europa's disk show regions that are warmer or cooler than their immediate surroundings: the warm patches are generally relatively dark, and thus absorb more sunlight, than neighboring regions, while the cool patches are relatively bright. In the lower left corner, heat radiation from Jupiter itself, can be seen peeking out from behind Europa's disk."

On Arcturus I Listened To The Ice Sing

I had some fun with this one, a wrong take on Butterflies' life cycle. They are supposed to arrive to the prettier stage in the end but my track moves backwards, from a gentle and nice pastoral in the first section to a cheesy jazz ballad, then chaotic and quite ugly electro-acoustic free-jazz third section.
It's always the same "theme" with variations, that was my actual "exercise" here.

Butterfly Backwards(disquiet0580)

This is my entry for https://disquiet.com/2023/04/20/disquiet-junto-project-0590-concrete-roots/

I took a brief portion of a field recording I made several years ago of high tide in Provincetown Harbor (Provincetown, MA), and subjected it to a process inspired by Alvin Lucier's "I Am Sitting in a Room". I iteratively processed the sound through a convolution reverb using an impulse response (IR) from an empty concrete nuclear reactor hall, Each successive generation re-applies the reverb so that eventually we hear only the resonant frequencies in the space from which the IR was derived. This was a manual process, as I wanted to preserve the ever-increasing reverb tails, and also to control the reverb level to avoid digital distortion (which can be cool, but not what I was after).

When I assembled the segments into a single track, I decided to reverse the order so that the most highly-processed segment comes first, and the original recording is only heard at the end of the piece.

a combination of electromagnetic recordings to generate the feedback for the assignment and some old field recordings of birds squabbling at local sheds, with occasional environmental noises and artifacts.
