"Volumen I" es nuestro disco debut, realizado gracias al apoyo del Fondo de la Música 2015. Cuenta con obras originales basadas en ritmos tradicionales presentes en Chile, que buscan representar la diversidad musical de nuestro país.

Se incluyen canciones en idiomas propios de pueblos originarios, como el Mapugundún, Rapa Nui, Quechua y Aymara, con una propuesta renovada que busca incentivar a las nuevas generaciones a descubrir y apreciar la diversidad cultural presente en Chile.

Written after a series of poems and phrases in Runa Simi: the “people’s language” (Quechua). Sumaq Quya is the “queen of all goodness”… and who else could that be but our own mother?   This lullaby is one in which it is the son who sings to his mother, wherever she might be.

The Ensamble Transatlántico de Folk Chileno is an independent ongoing project that gathers diverse musicians from Chile and abroad.

Its main objective is to create and perform music of Chilean (and other participating countries) inspiration, through an Orchestra formed by all kinds of acoustic instruments, from the classical and folk tradition. 

The original repertoire, written by members of the Ensemble, includes –in the Chilean side- styles as diverse as the cueca, huayno, "huachaca" (popular) jazz, Mapuche (natives) singing, and even the rhythms of African descent, a legacy which is largely unrecognized in Chile.

Being a non-traditional orchestra, the musicians avoid using sheet music in their concerts, so there is a constant visual communication with the audience, thereby generating a lively atmosphere where everyone is invited to participate, either dancing or singing.

So far more than 100 musicians have been part of the Ensemble, which has currently about 25 active musicians in Chile, located mainly in Valparaiso.

This project is currently in a process of national and international expansion, to form Ensembles in other regions of Chile, and in different continents, such as Europe, North America and Asia. 

In this way, we have a diverse group, multicultural and transversal, which seeks to represent the Chile of today, connecting it with the rest of the world, inviting everyone to rediscover it's own traditional music without prejudices or restrictions, building a global community who will share and support the different projects that might arise from this experience.
