Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, MusikFabrik Köln, Collegium Novum Zürich, Ensemble Tzara), spielten an den bedeutendsten Festivals der Szene (Donaueschinger Musiktage, Wittener Tage für Neue Musik, Huddersfield New Music Festival, Warschauer Herbst, Wien Modern) und nahmen an wichtigen Akademien (Ensemble Modern Akademie, Lucerne Festival Akademie, Impuls Graz und Darmstädter Tage für Neue Musik) teil. Seitdem erprobten sie in der Zusammenarbeit mit zahlreichen Komponisten die verschiedensten Stile und Arbeitsansätze im Rahmen von Uraufführungen von Solo- und Ensemblewerken. Dieser reiche Erfahrungsschatz fusioniert nur im Ensemble Apparat. 

In den letzten Jahren präsentierte das Ensemble Programme beim rainy days Festival der Philharmonie Luxemburg, bei der Akademie der Künste Berlin, und beim Festival Klangwerkstatt Berlin. Als Teil des Ensemblekollektivs Berlin ist das Ensemble Apparat bei vielen wichtigen Berliner Festivals für zeitgenössische Musik aufgetreten, darunter Musikfest und MärzMusik der Berliner Festspiele und Ultraschall.

Das derzeitige Ziel von Apparat ist es, sich trotz der Verwurzelung in der vierköpfigen Kernbesetzung zu einem dynamischeren Ensemble zu entwickeln, das seine Besetzung je nach dem Umfang eines bestimmten Projekts ändert.
