This episode focuses on a body of repertoire that I’m going to call “post-instrumental” music: pieces that use found instruments, broken instruments, makeshift instruments, human bodies -- pretty much anything but traditional orchestral instruments. What's drawing composers and performers to make this kind of art? To find out, I talked to members of the Chicago contemporary music ensemble Mocrep: trombonist Nick Meryhew, bassist Zach Moore, and cellist Lia Kohl.

This is part of a larger project that attempts to find new ways of interacting with recordings, especially improvisations.
