Nectar of the Living Spirit Meditation

 Ram Dass leads a 35 minute meditation, originally recorded January 1981, in Sydney Australia. 

Ram Dass guides a soma (divine nectar) meditation, focusing on drawing the living spirit in through the breath and body - and releasing the stuff in you that is keeping you from being with the universe: fears, negativity, doubt, inadequacy, anger, loneliness...replenishing your body with healing energy. Release the things you don't need in order to be in the spirit.

Written and recorded all in one day, around Christmas-time 2008, in New Orleans, LA.  
  Recorded by Dave Rosser (who also played bass, slide guitar, and added the drums), 
  with the help of Jeff Klein,
  who doubled the vocal and added some ideas, at the Infamous Chateau Daveaux, upstairs from   Checkpoint Charlie's on Esplanade.  The noise in the background was provided by local rock- stoner from down the hall, who put his amp on 11 just as we were doing vocals.

The Chord of Love: Readings by Ram Dass & Devotional Songs by Amazing Grace 

In the 60s and 70s many of us journeyed to the East in search of 'something'. In the foothills of the Himalayas, some of us were graced to touch the living spirit through our guru, Neem Karoli Baba. Being with the devotees surrounding him, we were opened to "bhakti yoga" the path of the heart. Through song, poetry, myth and prayer, we were reminded that ultimately there is only the Beloved. Now, many years later, when even a few of us gather, we share, as you will hear on this recording, extemporaneously, the words and songs that remind us of the Beloved yet again. This meditation is drawn from Theravada (Southern Buddhism) called "Anapana" - just bringing you to right here, and it's done through the breath. Out of all of our individual differences, what is common to us is we are all breathing in, breathing out.

New York- based Tara Angell has been writing songs since childhood but only started seriously sharing them in the late nineties.  At the advice of her friends and management, she took out a bank loan to pay for the recording of her debut record.  It was only by chance that after playing SXSW in 2003, she got signed to Rykodisc.  They released the critically acclaimed "Come Down", produced by Joseph Arthur, worldwide, in'05.  She played shows with some of her heroes--Lucinda Williams, Joseph Arthur and Big Star, but a struggle with chronic Lyme Disease slowed her down from performing.  She is now doing paper collage, and still writing and recording at home.  She always holds hope that she will still release music that fits her standards.
