From the storied streets of Hamburg and Berlin to the deep-rooted house culture of Chicago, Florian Kruse and Dilee D bring together two musical journeys into one creative partnership. Their paths converge in a shared passion for emotional, forward-thinking electronic music and a healthy respect for the scene’s colourful past. With solo releases spread across imprints like Mobilee and Idyllik Records, they’ve each carved out distinct identities—but now unified through their collaborative Clockwork Mind EP recently released on on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth.

In this Balance Selections mix, Florian and Dilee channel their transatlantic experiences and deep studio chemistry into a session that’s both personal and precise. Featuring tracks from Max Cooper, WhoMadeWho, and AFFKT, as well as their own unreleased work, the mix reflects their belief in storytelling through sound.

Independent imprint Spekulla Records, known for championing Poland’s underground sound and forward-leaning club culture, welcomes a fresh voice to its international roster: Grant, a Mexican-born producer making his return to the global circuit with the hypnotic, groove-heavy single “Sidefoot Step.”

The track, a late-night burner rooted in deep percussive tension and subtle emotional drive, marks Grant’s first official release in over a decade — and it’s already turning heads. “Sidefoot Step” debuted this weekend on Traxsource’s Weekend Weapons Chart, with a Hype Chart placement confirmed for early next week.

A Return with Purpose
Grant’s trajectory doesn’t follow the usual arc.
After founding Union Jack Records in 2010 — with a debut release landing on an acclaimed Balance Music compilation — his productions gained early support from names like Seth Troxler, Pezzner, Atish, and Sasse. But just as momentum began to rise, Grant stepped back — not out of doubt, but intention.

“It wasn’t a pause. It was preparation,” Grant explains.
“Music never left me. I was just learning how to return on my own terms.”
That return arrives now — focused, lean, and laced with a quiet confidence. “Sidefoot Step” carries the kind of structure that builds over time: minimal elements placed with surgical precision, a swung groove that feels equal parts analog and introspective, and a clear sense of storytelling through rhythm — a nod to the influence of artists like Aphex Twin and DJ Sasha, who shaped his early sonic compass.

This set was recorded on a laidback Sunday with the idea of a sonic journey, opening with organic house textures and gradually evolving into deeper, darker progressive tones. It’s a progressive-driven experience from start to finish.
