Welcome to Dark Sessions. In our fourteenth episode we present a special guest from Stuttgart, Germany. This is Thomas Colin. He is a DJ / Producer. Passionate about electronic music, which does not like to sort out it into genres, and resident of the Schimmer Records label. He is a producer on the rising wave of European Groove, renowned for his atmospheric melody sounds, surrounding sub-basses and his consistent groove. Enjoy it.

Hailing from her native Tilburg, Julie has been on the radar of local clubs for a while, earning herself a residency at Gin Fizz and Suburban Disco before her fast-paced, rolling, percussion-driven techno reached a wider audience. Playing piano from an early age, she has honed her ear for the melody and rhythm that are so evident in each of her sets today. The new podcast in our series comes from the great DJ BORIS, recorded live at the Killekill 015 record release/10 years of Pacotek party on november 22nd, 2013. 
DJ Boris is kind of a charismatic, multifunctional weapon in the Berlin club life. His musical roots reach back to the mid 80s, when he lived in New York for four years where he absorbed the unique spirit of the seminal club Paradise Garage weekend after weekend. From the Club’s mentor Larry Levan Boris learned to believe in his musical intuition as well as a broad musical spectrum, which nowadays ranges from Disco, Hi-NRG, Post-Punk and (Kraut-) Rock to House and Techno, all of which Boris loves to throw into one set. „Music was most important for Levan. He was uncompromising and he knew how to convey it. That’s what I’m trying to achieve, too, when I’m djing.“

Many years later, Boris became a resident at Panorama Bar’s first incarnation in Berlin, where he was able to build a loyal following by playing long sets lasting until noon. „The crowd is always a lot more receptive for music at the end than at the beginning. That’s when I rather have the opportunity to present unusual stuff and that’s when I’m able to let my feelings run freely.“
After the old OstGut/Panorama Bar closed, Boris played in almost every club in Berlin, but when the follow up club Berghain opened its doors in 2004, he quickly focused on playing out here again. From 2005 till 2010 he had another musical platform, as he was taking care of the label Careless Records as an A&R. As a DJ, he is not exactly keen on refining a certain genre, but rather to push music with a certain twist.

Polish Techno.logy | Podcast #61 | Slope Unit

Originally from Poland, Slope Unit has debuted over a decade ago in the infamous Metro Club back in his hometown, Białystok.
Record-digging routines together with dedication to the rhythm drew his attention towards the wider aspect of sonic experimentation which pushed him to start producing his own material.
After a few years of relentless mixing in Warsaw, he was looking for a more suitable place to unfold his musical journey, and London turned out to be the location.
Hardware synthesizers were suddenly overshadowed by eurorack's universe, what was recycled later on for his recently released EP's on Modular Underground and Totentanz Recordings.
He is a part of the Based On Lies showcase together with his partner in crime - Joanna (T A K A) discovered back in 2016 by Dazed & Confused and endorsed by Revive Festival 2019.
Now returning to DJing, Slope Unit constantly amazes us with the immense energy of his sets and his uncompromising selections, claiming that pushing musical boundaries is his call of duty.
