I could hear it from afar, through the noise floor of the jungle. Aggressive luring and inescapable moaning drew me closer and yet I was afraid of its sheer force.

Several years ago our expedition on Alpha Centaur 4 ventured into a galactic stato stream. Floating down the "river of noise," as we called it, our ship was slowly taken over by a parallel reality nexus. At first we weren't sure what caused the problem, but slowly we understood that we were experiencing a time bubble that let us glimps into the distant past of the planet. What a trip! The whistling of past bells at the river banks is still ringing my ears today.
