The REVISIT Soundtrack was initiated by Markus Oberndorfer as part of his media art project REVISITED which features 360 video, media installation, photography, collage, and an artist book. Six befriended musicians were invited to provide three tracks each and given the assignment to send contributions representing their interpretations of the 360 videos recorded of the Sunset Strip in 2016 as part of REVISITED. 

REVISIT OST is part of the installations virtual experience in form of radio broadcasts and subject of digital release and three limited physical releases on split 12“ vinyl. The vinyl is available in two versions à 150 copies: 1. Rhythm-Section (sound) and Rhythm- & Sequence-Frame-Section (sound & visual concept).

ygam presents a recording of Ōtone’s (@otonenoto) performance for the month of contemporary music at ACUD MACHT NEU (Berlin, Sept. 2019) - an improvisation on two metallic instruments of the 'Tetsu' series and field recordings.

The work of Ōtone (Pablo Diserens’ other moniker) is characterised by an ongoing investigation of abstract industrial soundscapes. In 2017, they started a collection/series of self-made metallic objects called 'Tetsu' that they use as compositional tools and performative instruments. On stage, Ōtone manipulates these instruments and blends them with material from their field recordings archive. Their timbers exploration plays with the listeners’ acoustic memory to create new sonic combinations and associations until another landscape emerges. In this recorded performance, Ōtone improvises on 'Tetsu I' and 'Tetsu III', elaborating slowly evolving percussive accumulations and wind-instrument-like frictions, while a drone made out of recordings of resonating metal bars gradually ascends. Subtle recordings of birds, water and sea urchins also appear throughout the performance giving an organic touch to the metallic soundscape at play.

Ōtone dedicates this performance to Eliane Radigue.

Don't let the title fool you - Suction Records' latest dive into RX-101's 1997-1999 tape archive is not al lush, serene melodies. On "Serenity," scorched, crunchy, jackhammer beats combine with emotional, plaintive pads, delivering a classic set of vintage-Rephlex-style bliss, a la AFX, Caustic Window, and Cylob.

Nazanin Noori - FARCE (ENMX-09)

A series of bleak, blustery scenes make up Nazanin Noori’s Farce. Noori, who also works as a theater director, conjures glacial storms and buzzing subterranean server farms on this album; but such scenes were far from the artist’s guiding narrative as it was being produced. The two tracks, clocking in at 80 minutes total, were envisioned as an enraged argument (or a "modular heartbreak") unfolding between two groups of people about a pothole in the road, told from the perspective of the road, and then the pothole.

This surreal, mundane plot device is nowhere to be found on Farce in any concrete way. And this is intentional. Noori, inspired by Artaud's concept of the theatre of cruelty, wants listeners to develop their own sensorial world separate from the musician's. When not darkly ambient, the tracks are full of drama and whimsy, as if a spotlight is following a character along a wayward path, into the hands of fate. The emotional hooks in the sound include a sense of desperate desolation, optimistic reprieve, and of course, the sense that ritual repetition is both a curse and a blessing—but they resist obvious imagery. Exactly what kinds of characters or settings get hung on the album's scaffolding is up to the audience. Listening with a hi-fi sound-system is highly recommended.

Nazanin Noori is an Iranian artist living and working in Berlin, Germany. Her work includes theater and radio play direction, music, and text. She focuses on atmospheric narratives in sound, and works to overcome cultural reliance on sentiment by making dramatic adaptations of non-dramatic texts. She studied theater, film and media sciences at Goethe University in Frankfurt and worked at Deutsches Theater and Schauspiel Hannover. She currently selects Acid Folk for POMP, a sound scenario series on Retreat Radio, and is an artist-in-residence at the Young Academy of the Arts in Berlin.
