Ancient Rocks

You just have started as an apprentice in the Mage's guild. Your mentor asked you to find the Gasp of Wisdom. Her sight was like you shouldn't come back empty-handed. Your search has led you in the forest, to a forgotten crypt which was here who knows how long. You brush the dust from the marble door, and you come in. You hold your lantern in front of you, carefully stepping forward. You are examining old patterns on the walls. You are going deeper into the crypt, stepping down the ladder. The ceiling is low and wet, and the walls are wet as well. At the moment, it seems like this is a normal assignment, and everything will be fine. Suddenly, you hear a hammering noise down there. What would you do?

As you move deeper into the crypt, the hammering noise grows louder, echoing off the walls. Your heart begins to race, and you feel a surge of adrenaline. Despite the fear, you push on, driven by your determination to find the Gasp of Wisdom. And then, suddenly, the narrow passageway opens up into a massive chamber. The sight takes your breath away as you gaze upon a grand hall. In front of you is one of the most beautiful places you have ever seen. A crystal clear lake sparkles in the center, surrounded by trees and flowers. There is a way outside, and the sunbeams are streaming through it. However, you still hear the ominous sound. With a shiver, you realize that the massive form you mistook for a cave wall is a giant.
You watch, in awe and reverence, as the giant is crushing rocks into the water with their hands. Moss and lichens grow on the giant's tough skin, and birds nest in their hair. Are you freezing in your place? Are you finding the courage to dare to proceed with your quest?

Suddenly, you hear a deep thunderous noise. You feel it with all your body as if you were a guitar deck. You are petrified, and you even hold your breath - as it if could help.
Unwilled tears are splashing from your eyes. Everything you knew, all your plans and wishes may be gone forever. Even so, you have to embrace it with dignity.
The sound that pervades everything is the giant's voice. They are calling your name, and the trees are bending because of their breath.

"Are you looking for treasures?" asks the giant.  
"No, I'm here for the Gasp of Wisdom," -" you say with a firm voice, while your legs are shaking.  
"You are not so wise, are you?" says the giant.  
They laugh a deep, rumbling laugh, and you try to remember some spells, but you cannot find the words for any of them. But then, to your surprise, the giant kneels and looks you in the eyes.  
"The Gasp of Wisdom is not a treasure to be taken lightly. It is a gift, given only to those who have proven their worth. And you, by facing your fears and standing before me, have proven that you are worthy of this gift."  
  
With that, the giant reaches out a massive hand and places a small crystal-clear vial, so transparent that almost invisible, in your palm. Despite fear, you look carefully at the vial, and you cannot believe your own eyes: it is empty. Your whole journey was just for an empty vial?

As you stand there, gazing at the vial, the giant rises to their feet and begins to sing a deep, haunting melody. The sound fills the chamber, and you feel the weight of the world lifting off your shoulders. Suddenly, the walls of the crypt seem to melt away, and you find yourself standing in a lush meadow, surrounded by trees and flowers. The sun is shining, the birds are singing in the giant's hair, and a gentle breeze is blowing.

You look up at the giant, and they smile down at you. "Remember," they say, "the truest wisdom comes not from what you find, but from what you learn on your journey."

With that, the giant turns and walks away disappearing into the trees. You stand there for a moment, watching them go. As you make your way back to the Mage's guild, you know that you have truly found the Gasp of Wisdom, and it has changed you forever.

I studied music since I was 6, first time at music school, then in the music college. I personally love glitch, lo-fi, synthwave, dungeon synth, dark folk, and other similar genres. I also enjoy microchromatic music.
I make soundtracks for indie games, and I am trying to grow as a composer.
