After half a year of VGM covers and experimental chiptunes, I decided to bring back FamiTastik and gauge my learnings during these months. Following the spirit of Vol.1, FamiTastik Vol.2 is a collection of stories yet untold and sceneries yet unseen narrated through videogame music.

Music made entirely with Dn-FamiTracker using the VRC6 expansion chip (without using any samples in the DPCM channel) and no post-processing whatsoever, apart from some gentle volume leveling and limiting. The .nsf file containing all of the compiled tracks is included with the album.

I put the loop length at like 50 bars or something and just went crazy without even trying to keep track of what I was playing and just hoped things would work out. Trap Room

For maj7's "ESCAPE FROM WIP CITY" event. This is based on a WIP by anosci from 2018. Not wanting to destroy his original vision, I decided to try and make it a bit longer and add some additional elements, rather than making a cover or remix. 

I decided to use the Roland XV-5080 VST (for the first time), fun to use and has some good sounds although it started ruining OpenMPT's performance, so unfortunately this track didn't turn out too long. But at least I think I added some nice parts.

ESCAPE FROM WIP CITY

fusoxide & anosci - Metallic Boredom

1. Fanfare (feat. Emma Gold)
A modern electronic piece, accompanied by Emma Gold’s vocal—delicate and reflective, like a lullaby from a carousel. The track offers a soft contemplation on life’s repetitive rhythms, built on electronic drums, glowing synths, and a spacious, atmospheric breakdown.

2. Fanfare (Kotez Waltz Mix)
Driven by a lilting triplet groove and live jazzy drums, this mix reimagines the original through a more surreal, stripped-back lens. Familiar motifs drift and stretch, carried by brushed snares and loose swing.

The lead track is accompanied by a music video crafted from restored 1930s fairground footage, deepening the sense of memory and melancholic wonder. Fanfare invites listeners to step into a dreamlike world of shifting perspectives—where the past spins gently into the present.

As My Friend Dario's last album Senza Estate soundtracks another summer, Hell Yeah return to it for a new package featuring the single 'Marittimo' in original form, as an album mix, and with a remix from Eddie C.

'Marittimo' is named after the monthly summer party Dario hosts at Pazmaya in Focallo. It's a loose and exotic rhythm built on elastic drums and peppered with toms, hits, bird calls and shakers. Subtle chords dance up top and fleshy bass is offset by freeform wooden melodies that bring a perfectly organic and sun-baked sound.

The remix comes from Canadian disco master and Red Motorbike label boss Eddie C, who turns up the heat and builds the tempo. His loopy mix is heavier, with chord stabs and big drum energy serving up a steamy main dish to get the dance floor full up.

This is another delicious taste of My Friend Dario's irresistible full length.
