After releasing their much-acclaimed full- length debut IN TECHNICOLOR (KOMPAKT 279 CD 106) last year, COMA returns to the fore with ATLANTIS, another yummy slice of catchy dance floor bliss and a persuasive testament to the seemingly infinite willingness of the Cologne-based duo to explore the whole gamut of electronic pop music.
Never the ones to stick to only one gun, COMA's Marius Bubat and Georg Conrad are known to challenge themselves on a daily basis in the studio, always looking for a new melodic angle or rhythmic snippet that will help them to spread the magic. Opening the EP in true COMA style, title track ATLANTIS is a particularly swinging neo disco opus brimming with funky hooks and romantic synth pads, all coalescing into the trademark buoyancy the duo has become known and loved for.
MAELSTRØM continues that trend in spectacular fashion, reinforcing the funk elements and vibing hard with the imaginary soundtrack to your favorite 70's vintage cop show, finely seasoned with a hint of acid. By contrast, closing track BLUEPRINT dials back the cliffhangers and aims for a slightly more introspective blend, reverting to and refining the wonderfully melodramatic vocoder musings of a COMA classic like FICTION from their 2011 synthfest GRAVITY (KOMPAKT 236).

This is pretty much how Da Chick's world can be portrayed. No need and no time for bulshit about what she's been doing, her record collection and her major influences. She tells us her blood is a mix of rhythm, colours and energy, and you can take her word for it.

'Curly Mess' is her brand new cocktail. One taste won't be nearly enough, but three might: 'Cocktail' is an addictive, instant disco classic that will get you tipsy, with the explosive 'I Say' you'll be screaming and begging for more while 'Flowering' is the true coming of age soul jam.

While it took her quite some time to find her sound, these tracks were written, recorded and mixed in record time - that's how bad her music needed to see the light of day. And it's all there: the big apple suburbs, the classic studios from yesteryear, and the dreamy edge of someone with, most of all, brutal honesty.

I have been into underground house since 1988.    I started dj'ing in 1988 and producing tracks from 1993. In the 90's I was living in Toronto, and in those years there was a massive wave of warehouse parties and later the raves.   I was fortunate to DJ at many of these events along with some talented DJ/producers who have become superstars today and some DJ’s who were superstars then. I have been in the UK since 2000, still producing house tracks to this day.  

My style of music has been influenced by the stompin beats and bass of Chicago,  the chugging synths of Detroit and the atmosphere of London's tech-house.  Like many other long time electronic producers, I have a secret technical love for Italo and have great respect for what those producers achieved in the 80's. 

House music, made in my house just like was in the beginning.
