After this year’s Outlook Festival festivities, Untied is back to deliver another set of mind-boggling jams. For its sixth release, the Croatian record label has decided to put Drum & Bass legend Kodin’s five-track EP up for display, featuring a rude remix by Tectonic Recordings signee Nurve. The Eatbrain and Untied signee never fails to amaze. His ‘Soloist’ EP is the direct proof of this as always, through which he resumes his familiar course of action. With this strong 5-tracker to surface just after summer, Untied clearly sends out a signal for what’s upcoming during the dark, winter times. Make sure to wear a bulletproof vest for ‘UD006’ -you’ll need one…

With EP opener ‘Soloist’ the producer shows he’s in for havoc: a malicious siren counts down for impact, while a nurtured, egoistic growl builds in intensity. ‘OPB’ is a more complex halfstep affaire that contains a thugged-out vocal and layered, percussive action. ‘Tapija’ follows and has been going around dubstep for some time thanks to the early support from Wheel & Deal’s NType. The trippy, repetitive hi-hat syncs with a colossal snare, which indefinitely give rise to one dangerous, sought-after dubplate. The raging vibe in ‘Consonant’ will remind many of the old and new Macabre Unit Digital material. It destroys everything on its path thanks to the confident pace and ever consistent bassweight. Nurve finishes it all off by pushing his psychotic reinterpretation of ‘OPB’, which simply is an obliterator meant to red line and distort - and all in all adds up to forming the sharp edges of Kodin’s mean, harmful audio content.
