“Robyn Chaos"! (@robynchaos)

“Robyn Chaos” is one of the most recognizable names in dark drum and bass, firmly establishing herself over the last two decades as one of the main forces in the darkcore and leftfield drum and bass scene. Not only a skilled DJ, but also a vocalist, songwriter, producer, promoter, agent, and all around general badass, She has fully embraced drum and bass with a pure passion for over 18 years.

As owner of “Therapy Sessions” worldwide, she personally oversees each and every event; working alongside local promotion teams/families on everything from line ups to flyer design. From its humble beginnings as an East End London midweek in 2003, "Therapy Sessions" rose to quickly become a award winning drum and bass tour de force, infiltrating dozens of cities across the globe, such as Hamburg, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Porto, Osaka, Paris, St. Petersburg and more. In 2015 "Robyn Chaos" started up “Therapy Sessions Recordings” (@therapysessionsrecordings), supporting the experimental & darker side of drum and bass with both renown and upcoming artists. 

As founder and director of the dark enthusiasts DJ Agency Anger Management,  she has been instrumental in nurturing the long term, successful careers of almost every major darkside titan in the drum and bass world. Musically, “Robyn Chaos” released as part of the infamous "Faith in Chaos" outfit (with Dylan)and alongside  some of the most respected artists in dark drum and bass, like Audio, Counterstrike, Zardonic, Switch Technique and many more.  Also working on alternative projects, such as the southern tinged electro-blues sleaze concept series “A Town Called Hell”, “Robyn Chaos” continues to have fun, push boundaries and dance to the beat of her own heavily distorted drum.

For this episode, “Robyn Chaos” prepared a one hour journey through the realms of dark drum and bass, packed with own productions and unreleased material from her label “Therapy Session Recordings”.

The Sect´s debut EP was one of the records on my first order, when i first bought my turntables and started to dj.
Techno-Dnb was starting to blow up and these guys were probably the ones who got my attention the most at the time.
I remember Temper D playing tunes like nerve attack (before it´s released) at one of our local clubs and we went totally nuts on it.
I have been obsessed with techno-dnb ever since.
The Sect were one of the strongest names on the scene, I bought every record and you didn’t even need to listen to them before, everything was rolling and techy and pure fire, just as I like it.
Unfortunately, after a load of insane releases, the duo has come to an end.
Dave is now working solo, as Section 63, and he still makes kickass tunes.
Ill wait a bit and do a special set on his solo work too.
Not sure what Ben is doing but I hope he is doing well.
Thank you guys for being true to the sound for so long.

BASS FORWARD THE REVOLUTION CAST #14 - Section 63

For this month's episode of our podcast we are excited to welcome "Section 63" (@section-63), better known as "Blade" from "The Sect". 

As a child he was hooked on the breakbeat hardcore emanating from London’s pirate radio stations and started collecting records in his early teens, before progressing onto DJing at local parties. He also made his first forays into the studio, releasing a number of hardcore records under the alias "Blade". Whilst at university, he worked at the famed drum and bass specialists "Tripp2 Records" and was a resident DJ at the legendary Paradox parties, as well as playing regularly around the south coast and cutting his teeth in the "Stars of the Future" rooms at large national events such as One Nation, Dreamscape and Best of British. 

Motivated by the futuristic output of artists such as Konflict, Stakka & Skynet and Bad Company, he hooked up with "Virtua" and fellow Paradox resident "Method" to focus on production. "The Sect"’s first release was on "DJ Red"’s "Distance Recordings" in 2003, but they really exploded onto the scene in late 2006 with their debut single on "Obscene" and self-titled EP on "Offkey" dropping in the same week. Numerous singles, EPs, remixes and collaborations across many seminal labels swiftly followed, cementing both their status at the forefront of the techno-drum and bass movement and their place in the wider scene. In 2011, their album "Fractured State" was released on "Subsistenz" and they founded their own label "The Sect Music" the following year. After DJing extensively around the world for more than a decade, "The Sect" performed their last gig on NYE 2017/8, signalling the end of the project. 

The first "Section 63" release was a collaboration with "Mako" on "Warm Communications" in 2016. Initially intended as an alias for any non-"The Sect" tracks, Dave adopted this moniker full-time in 2018, with his debut solo release the "Transformation EP" on "Mute:8". Further EPs and singles have followed on Mute:8, Perkussiv, Attik, Krytika Productions and Drumatch and looking forward the release schedule sees remixes and collaborations slated on numerous imprints. 

For our podcast, "Section 63" prepared one hour of finest technoid drum and bass, including unreleased tunes from himself as well as some classics.

Head of multi-disciplined imprint Diffrent Music, Dexta joins the Therapy Sessions family for an old school freak vinyl-only set. Alleycat brings her signature Kokeshi blend of deep, dark rollers and surprise selections and Lady Su kicks off the night in proper hard Czechstep style. Finally, London based Boyson completes the bill with a solid selection of rumbling DnB and bass-heavy rhythms throughout the night.

As the label and event Head Honcho of Therapy Sessions, she’s hosted royalty like Andy C, Bailey, Loxy and Ink since day one. And she’s toured everywhere, from Sao Paulo to Osaka, St Petersburg and Granada to name a few! Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, she’s also got her own DJ Agency, Anger Management. There’s no doubt that Chaos has been instrumental in nurturing the long term, successful careers of almost every major darkside titan in the D&B World.
