Before you lies a vision of a distant realm, one carpeted in ruddy-toned grasses that stretch endlessly into the distance, and marked by massive mycelial growths that shoot their spore-filled silhouettes skywards to incredible heights. The vision you see is bisected by a crystalline river that flows with a water most pure, the single familiar element that flows amidst this alien landscape. From the fringes of the fungal towers, reptilian beasts spread their leathery wings and glide down to the surface to snatch gigantic insects whose brilliant carapaces shimmer blue-green in the light of the planet’s vibrant sun. Amidst this ochre savanna lay a number of boulders strewn carelessly across its surface by ancient natural forces that now lay dormant, the rocky terrain a reminder of the glacial facade that this land once bore.

There is a distinct mystery inherent in this mushroomed realm, presenting a visage of nature so foreign from your own and yet still reminiscent of so many places you know. You long to roam amidst its sandy grasses, to follow the river that flows from its center to locations unknown, to see the flying lizards glide gently above your head. The portal lies open before you - will you step through and enter the world that the coiled tail of the Vision Serpent so tantalizingly presents?

DAVID PHOENIX delivers the debut release for VISION SERPENT with an EP that shares the label’s name, delivering two solo tracks and a pair of remixes to accompany them provided by likeminded psytech artists Breger and Kaufmann. With this initial entry into the label’s catalog, VISION SERPENT has opened the portal to the first of many alien worlds, and invites listeners to indulge in the sounds that emanate from within.

Jannowitz Records' relationship with Maksim Dark has come a long way. Learning about this uber-producer from his mind-blowing releases on imprints like Oliver Huntemann's Sense or Dubfire's Sci+Tec. This grew to an amazing friendship and more than one Beatport charting release within a short amount of time.

In this time Maksim has done an amazing solo EP called “Radium War”, a fantastic collaboration with label boss BOHO (“Octopussy”) and just a few months ago the “Dub Space” together with Jannowitz' favourite Diatonik from India.

Now he is back, once again showcases his powerful baseline heavy style of modern electronic music. “Sunfire” is a comparably small EP for Jannowitz standards. It consists of two tracks and one remix. Very basic but the perfect way to highlight two very special productions and to give one outstanding remixer the space to work with Maksim's stems.

“Sunfire” is the main track that - in true Maksim Dark manner - lives of a melodic baseline and variations in the lower frequencies until suddenly the melody spirals towards the heights and twists in diverse ways, climaxing in dance floor ready breaks making “Sunfire” a true weapon.

A little bit more progressive, more straight forward is what you could call the second Original, “Pulsating”. There is not really much you need to describe other than the name itself. “Pulsating” seems to be pulsating from within. The melodic synth elements that come into play after a merciless break give a dark and industrial touch.

For the remix, Drumcomplex, also a dear friend of the label and a more than well known producer in Germany and beyond, took “Sunfire” and created his own version of it. His remix is more loopy, more tooly, taking the best parts of the original and creating a vibe with a stronger kick, less focus on the baseline and more on the dance floor.

Hailing from Switzerland, Munkler is a techno producer known for his experimental sound design and intricate drum patterns. His music is a reflection of his experimental nature, and his dedication to his craft is evident in every track he produces. With each release, Munkler continues to explore new sonic territories and redefine the limits of what is possible in electronic music.
