REDUCTIVE01 - Etienne - Currently Idle LP

Our journey through Europe continues, this time showcasing Layzie (@layzie_official), one of Serbia's finest talents with this very special set that was recorded live at Lovefest (Stage 99).

Layzie was born in Novi Sad, Serbia, city of youth, underground clubbing and wild music festivals. He grew up surrounded by hip-hop, and initiated his first original music as early as the age of 13. Broken beats became his signature, even in his latest production sounds.

He started DJing at the age of 16 and had his first residency at the age of 18. Through Soulseek, Layzie got connected to people from Romania which led to his first booking. In search for his unique sound expression, he explored experimental music boundaries, only to learn how to push his creativity “out of the box”. He describes his music as organic, percussive and multi textured.

He started publishing and performing live, beginning with the gig in the Museum of Contemporary Arts in 2015. The next year started with his first EP “First Step”, and soon things started to flow very well for him.

From the audio/visual live performance at Museum of Modern Arts in Novi Sad, to multiple club gigs and b2bs, we are proud to host Layzie in his first guest mix for Equal / Distant. As always, we hope you enjoy the journey of sound through his music.
