Well, we’re glad his Road to Nowhere has led here. We welcome Yamil back on MoBlack
Records to deliver our 426th imprint, bringing an underrated Rosalinda de la Espada classic
across the turn of millenium, and into the limelight. The Spanish DJ/Producer’s 2021 dance
revival of ‘Hermanito Mio Quirivi’ lets us savor the sound of cumbia, a track that can steep the
soul of Panama in any dancefloor through to its finish.
The rich cultures and traditions that melt in the transcontinental republic’s pot impregnates its
music with depth, and Yamil carefully preserves that. Maneuvering the original’s quintessence
with grace, his rendition is vibrant, vivid and voracious. Percussion seeps deeply and the
hi-hats are warm to the touch, the Afro groove is suave, and the Latin infusions are seductive.
With subtle electronic tweaks that invigorate rapture, Quiribi is lush. But it is Rosalinda de la
Espada’s soulful storytelling at the marrow of both the original and remix that elevates ‘Quiribi’
from the depths of past to the motion of present. The late folk heroine’s timeless vocals, robust
and heartened by history - her story, lands in perfect harmony with Yamil’s midas touch for a
track that makes us just want to dance forever, anywhere, everywhere.

When a poster girl of Dark Disco and a defender of Indie Dance with a spiritual twist unite, the result can only be explosive. Marseille-based producer Bonnie Spacey and Berlin-based Franz Matthews just did that with their ‘Trust, Process, Control’ EP, delivering us two timeless dancefloor bombs that are sure to set every stage on fire, proudly introduced to you by HIFI/ LOFI Records.

‘Trust The Process’ kicks things off with a steady and infectious groove of playful synths and reverberated drums until Bonnie & Franz’ smooth and effected vocals enter the stage, reminding us in the simplest and catchiest way to have faith in ourself and trust the process of everything we do, in other words, to Just Do it as a famous sneaker brand would say. But things don’t stop here, as the second part of the track brings us in a nasty Acid zone you will never get enough of, French Indie Dance is still as its best so to say.

The 2 Originals of ‘Trust The Process’ and ‘Out of Control’ are set to be released before the summer, announcing a 4 track EP including 2 killer remixes (and remixers) that will be announced and fully released by the end of summer 2023, you’re just not ready yet.

Ron Flatter drops a stunning new bomb on Definition:Music, ‘Seeya EP’, Including Definition remix. 
The title track opens the EP, a deep and groovy percussion line warms the air as the vocals glide over the peaks and the energy steadily rises. Ron weaves a beautiful atmosphere, spilling with magic. The track continues to grow until we are faced with a full on dancefloor killer. Definition’s remix adds a gritty and playful bass line, giving the track more edge while he goes to work on the vocals, adding rhythmic cuts and edits to add an extra layer of motion and heat. The second original here, and last track, is a beefy number growling with a deep bass as the strings rise and the heat is on. From here it’s a sweaty affair made for late nights and heavy floors.

Next up for Maeve we welcome the very talented Italian duo, Underspreche to the label, delivering a 4 track EP including a remix from label founder The Drifter. 

Underspreche first caught our attention back in 2016 with the release of their mini album "Invito Alla Danza" on Optimo Trax, a record that possesses the captivating mixture of ethno vocals & sounds with a raw house dynamic. From there they continued to impress with their unique twist on many prominent House and Techno jams through their Experiments series. We are thrilled to have worked with them to bring you this EP and who better to describe the record than Underspreche themselves...

"We think every kind of art has an important role in our lives because of the magical power it has inside. Positive art can be profound, produce questions, show us new perspectives, transform feelings and connect people telepathically. If this is not magic??!! Taking inspiration from Alejandro Jodorowsky's work we did our own “music act” with this record, trying to ease our inner sorrow through musical poetry and freeing our voice. Inspiration from other cultures always help develop our work which as ever, is fuelled by a deep love for what we do."

Underspreche - Poet - Ease

'Berlin's Scatcity Records hit release number eight, turning to head honcho Skatman who offers up a trio of original productions alongside a guest appearance from Lauer.

The title track 'High Zeit' leads the way in classic Scatcity form. Echoing percussive elements rattle around before the driving force of looping melodies dance around the rolling hats and throbbing bass line. 'Final Shot' then lowers the tone with eerie organs and pulsating bass synth that lock around icy cymbals, whilst warped and squelching melodies dart from left to right in a quality progressive production.

On the B side, we have '11th Hour', a track that instantly grabs your attention with a dominant chugging bass and minimalistic approach from the drums. Anthemic chords then arrive creating an uplifting and euphoric mood, one that works well alongside the moody foundations. Lauer then transforms Skatman's work with a hint of Italo disco and funk, as a synth-heavy adaptation will leave you reaching for the club ceiling with a huge smile on your face.'
