Equiknoxx Music Presents Puppy Disco's Random Bashment

It wasn't meant to be a listening party, and it definitely wasn't meant to be a party! However it sure turned into one after the (10) EP tracks played on repeat as we danced into a trance! One listener said it sounds like "Marcia Griffiths Meets Penthouse Records in 2016". We are honored to be mentioned in the same breath as such legends and it is in their honour that we release this updated body of work, a 10-track deluxe edition of her debut EP, "UNO". 

Shanique Marie made her debut in December 2015 and has returned to the studio with producers Gavin Blair & Nicholas Deane of Equiknoxx Music to add four (4) new tracks to the original selection. 

No stranger to the airwaves, Shanique’s first single “Coconut Jelly Man” featuring Cali P has enjoyed worldwide rotation being play listed on radio stations in Switzerland and Amsterdam with constant play in the United Kingdom, Poland and in her homeland Jamaica. 

The official video for the second single, “Sugar Dumpling” is freshly released on www.Reggaeville.com today and can be streamed below.

Equiknoxx Music Presents Puppy Disco's Second Random Bashment


"Ghetto Bird Saga 1” is the first EP in a series of experimental projects produced by German Producer Ghetto Vanessa on the Equiknoxx Music imprint. The four (4) track EP takes us on a sonic journey from experimental dancehall reggae to West African fusion, mixed with other Caribbean sounds. 
"Songs like 'Live You Nice' (Track 4) evoke sensations of riding a dolphin on the Caribbean Sea, drinking straight from a coconut under blue skies," says Ghetto Vanessa. 
"Ghetto Bird Saga 1" includes new vocals from rising Jamaican artiste, Alexx A-Game, existing vocals from Dancehall staple Aidonia and Ghanian MC Eeii Nation. 
The EP is complemented by the artwork of German, visual artist, Jonas Quest.

02 C4 - Dem Game Deh Feat Tifa (Equiknoxx Music)

As the winter months bring the cool freeze, international bass connoisseur Poirier bursts out a hot ray of sunshine on another track from his acclaimed album "Migration". Inspired partly by the konpa music of the Caribbean, "Pale Mal" features Haitian rapper Fwonte, who delivers his vocals in creole, simultaneously throwing Haitian, Jamaican and Canadian vibes into the pot. A video was shot last year on location in Haiti, proving to be a hit both locally and around the world, so we thought it high time to delve into some remixes to bring the track to a wider audience. 

Up-and-coming UK producer Murder He Wrote (hotly tipped in Toddla T's "Freshman Session of 2017" and signed to Roska's Kicks & Snares label) delivers a heavy UK Funky inspired remix, with signature skipping drums and a growling sub, which should see some action on more experimental house DJs floors too. Meanwhile, Jamaica's craziest export since spiked rum punch; Equiknoxx, who also made waves with their highly rated "Bird Sound Power" landing in a lot of "Best albums of 2016" lists, also get in on the action - dispensing with most of the vocal and taking the track deep into leftfield dancehall/bass territory.

The story behind EM13 is one that sees Equiknoxx crew (Gavsborg + Time Cow) in a quite a sought-after Air bnb in Kingston. Invited to this cozy spot by RTKal (Birmingham based MC + Frequent Equiknoxx Collaborator), saw us trying different methods to cancel out the sounds of the Hope Zoo + Kingston traffic as we nested in the second floor of this Hope Pasture dwelling.

We originally went there as our studio was under renovation and we decided we wanted to lay some bars down with RTKal. The night took an interesting turn when we began to commend people that have made big strides in dancehall culture, with Elephant Man’s name reeling high in the discussion. Elephant Man is quite a character which we believe deserves a very focused applause for bringing a refreshing ‘burlesque’ flair to the Kingston scene in the early 2000’s. When we think of Elephant Man we think of an outlandish 120bpm ‘Jiggy Mixture’ of Grace Jones & Lee Scratch Perry meets Busta Rhymes.

After long nostalgic discussions, Time Cow & RTKal both begin to vocal the ghostly synth + drum repetition concocted by a volca beats trial run by Gavsborg.
