These VA EP releases feature three producers who contribute two originals, with the end result being a unique amalgamation of sound, something which has now become synonymous with the Sound Avenue affiliate. Invited to showcase their talents for the 21th edition are Lean Agüero, Julian Moreno, both from Agentina. And 3Kilo from Russia.

I wanted to write a horror themed song for October. Rather than being about vampires, demons, ghosts or something along those lines, I wanted psychological horror.

Dead Man’s Jacket is a song about paranoia and hopelessness as a person descends deeper from one ruinous situation into the next. The future is lost, secrets inevitably fall apart, truth merely hides the lies underneath, love is just a trick of the mind, and even the room is watching. The only glimmer of hope is to leave it all behind by escaping into the cold night, wearing a dead man’s jacket.

Sonically, I’m aiming for an early 1980s feel with chorus on the guitar and bass, string machines, and a Gary Numan-esque synth part towards the end of the song. Vocally, I’m experimenting with singing more naturally (let me know if you like it).
