In the shadows by the moon,
Lurks a feline with a mystic tune.
Its eyes are like stars in the midnight sky,
And its purr is a whisper that can't be denied.

The cat is a riddle with a secret to keep 
And its movements are silent like a dreamless sleep.

It slinks and prowls, with a purpose unknown,
And disappears like a ghostly moan.
Its fur a cloak of the darkest hue
It's claws daggers that cut right through.

But the cat is more than just a mystery,
It's a guardian with a power so free.
Watching over with a vigilant eye,
And protects us from the dangers that lie.

The cat is a symbol of the unknown
A creature of wonder that's never alone.

Magic creature with a spell to cast,
vanishing in a shadow so fast.
Been een around since the dawn of time
And will continue to mystify

At first, I wasn't sure how to approach this project. Briefly fooled around with various ideas and percussive instruments, till I finally settled on composing this in Ableton Live. Not sure how accurately I followed the assignment though but at least I had fun.

Five tracks were created using Ableton Live's Wavetable synth, all with the Mallets/Crockhausen preset and Max for Live Octopulse sequencer. Different parameters for the synth and sequencer were adjusted for each track to try to emulate five different musicians. Audio was processed with Minimal Audio Cluster Delay and Arturia LX-24 reverb. Background noise/drone from AudioThing Noises. Image by Neosiam via Pexels.
