Some very nice sounds and moods here. Not completely sold on the musical motifs, lacks a certain natural flow ("what *does* he mean??, " you might think :)) that I think would have benefited the material. But it's a good effort nonetheless.

It is very cool how you combined a several moods into one theme. And this dark urban atmosphere, very cool indeed. I also like the sound design, but I think the mix is too narrow. Almost every instruments and percussion elements are playing in the centre. It makes them compete for the attention and also makes listening in headphones less enjoyable. Anyway, it is still very cool entry. GL!

Oh-Din My MIDI is on Fire - OSC#197 - ODIN2

This is my submission to the #kvraudio #OneSynthChallenge #197 featuring the VST Synth Odin 2 by The Wave Warden

All sounds are coming from the Synth acompanied by a number of moderate tone shaping, mixing and mastering fx. I Mix/Master with MeldaProduction EQ/Compressor, Auburn Lense, Loudmax Limiter. All fx free or built into the DAW. DAW is Bitwig 5.3.x. No Samples. No Postprocessing after the audio export.

The sound of this 24-voice polyphonic beast will take you from your studio right to Valhalla! There are three oscillators whose types include analog, wavetable, vector, chiptune, FM, phasemod and noise. Waveforms can also be hand drawn. These can be routed through up to three excellent filters with all the usual types plus comb, formant and ring modulator. For modulation there are envelopes, LFO's, an  x-y pad and an arpeggiator, along with a mod-matrix  for easy routing. The FX section includes delay, phaser, flanger, chorus and reverb, all of which can be easily reordered using drag and drop. The interface is an intuitive semi-modular design, making sound design easy and fun. Odin 2 is free, powerful, fun, and available for Mac/Windows and Linux.

What does the title/pic mean? 
I have had many dreams throughout my life about finding hidden doors that lead to magical places. The picture is of a abandoned stairway in a house I lived in for a few years in college. Leads to the backside of a refrigerator. I had dreams about that house, that there were secret floors burrowed back into the hillside, etc. And at one point years later I couldn't remember if this abandoned stairway really was there or I just dreamed it.

Anyway making this triggered another of that type of dream.

This month was a real challenge!

When I looked at Odin, I came up with the idea of a true One (!) Synth Challenge – just a single instance, no excuses.
I dove deep into sound design and quickly realized: this would become a real borderline experience.

While endlessly tweaking, I kept discovering new sonic paths – sometimes inspiring, sometimes frustrating.
Odin could be pretty temperamental when dealing with MIDI, but in the end, I managed to shape something that feels raw, tense, and expressive.

So here it is: Grenzerfahrung (borderline experience) –
a track born from limitation, chaos, and way too many hours. ;)

"Fischerinsel (German: [ˈfɪʃɐˌʔɪnzl̩], Fisher Island) is the southern part of the island in the River Spree which was formerly the location of the city of Cölln and is now part of central Berlin. The northern part of the island is known as Museum Island. Fischerinsel is normally said to extend south from Gertraudenstraße and is named for a fishermen's settlement which formerly occupied the southern end of the island. Until the mid-twentieth-century it was a well preserved pre-industrial neighbourhood, and most of the buildings survived World War II, but in the 1960s and 1970s under the German Democratic Republic it was levelled and replaced with a development of residential tower blocks."
