Presenting their fourth release, Ruben Karapetyan’s RKP imprint welcomes Tomek to the label for his debut single!

with Luca Abayan also making his label debut with the second and final interpretation of ‘Electric Serenade’. Hailing from Argentina, Luca has emerged as new talent in his country’s rich pool of progressive house producers. Although just a year into his journey as producer, the Rosario resident has already amassed an impressive discography, notching releases via Arcedian, Droid9 and Magnitude Recordings. Fresh off a well received remix of ‘It's Just a Dream’ by Mind Tourist, Luca now debuts on RKP with a spirited take on ‘Electric Serenade’. Beginning with a buoyant kick and deep chugging groove, the Argentinean artist channels the fluid energy of the original through hazy sonics and evolving textures, before the main musical theme emerges across a colourfully fuzzed out break, perfectly setting up a meditative finale that should fare well in the morning hours.

A rising rapidly star in the underground dance firmament, Hot TuneiK is an artist at the forefront of his country's scene. Returning to Particles, "Tulum" continues his voyage.

Operating out his central American home, Mexican resident, Diego Carr is an artist with a growing reputation. Using his Hot TuneiK moniker to impressive effect, the young DJ and producer has over a decade's experience in Mexico's electronic music scene as promoter, label owner and active musician. Running a host of successful club nights under the Hookah Group name, Hot TuneiK continues to dominate the scene with additional performances from the likes of Kastis Torrau, Donatello and Antrim.

No less successful in his studio endeavours, production work has seen the Hot TuneiK name dominate the progressive house genre with a double century of production credits for some of the finest modern imprints. Thus, Balkan Connection, Sound Avenue and Soundteller Records have all played their part in furthering the Mexican's work, in addition to appearances on the popular Visceral compilation series as well as his own Hookah Records. April 2018's twin-track "Revival" EP witnessed an outstanding debut on Proton Music, while a clutch of releases on Particles, after a debut remix for Omar El Gamal in July 2015, have been complemented by October 2017's "Erase and Rewind" EP with remixes from Kamilo Sanclemente and Imran Khan.

Now returning to the label, the title track is a beautifully crafted affair that flows in graceful patterns through textured pads and cleverly programmed pitched percussion. Hypnotic in execution, the collage of rhythm and chord progressions is lifted further by a haunting vocal line from Limore that sparkles and ripples in coruscating glory. Evolving from the second movement, the stripped back breakdown provides the perfect opportunity for loquacious vocal line and organic instrumentation to accompany intelligent production techniques in a ten-minute odyssey that provides the perfect sonic picture of the "Tulum" title.

Partner track "Playa CA" continues the rhythmic cadence of its predecessor as a relaxed percussive groove immediately provides dynamic intent. Before long, a collage of melodies makes their presence felt in freeform glory as layer upon layer of counterpoint motifs are built into the aural collage that soar to a rousing crescendo at the extended breakdown. Uniting once more, rhythm and melody once again join forces in the latter half to mesmerising effect.

Ancient meets modern in exacting clarity as Hot TuneiK discovers "Tulum".

As we venture towards the heart of summer’s conclusion, we are ecstatic to release one of the label’s favorite projects to date.

Mitch Oliver and Maaruo represent the thriving community of dance music in Montreal; a city also home to the When We Dip team, and a pillar of the creative direction behind the way we run the labels and media platform. As many have before them, the two were regulars on dancefloors across the city before moving into the studio and harnessing their love of electronic music as creators.

Each of the producers have made important strides in the early days of their solo careers, including Mitch’s EP on Magician on Duty and Maaruo’s remix of Budakid right here on XYZ. They’ve also found a distinct knack for partnership, as is evident in their joint track Corne Mistur which was released with Akbal Music.

Same Light will surely continue to turn heads and capture ears for the two Montrealers. It has that something special, an indescribable quality found in the tunes we love the most, no matter the genre. The all-Quebecois team for Same Light includes Beyries, one of the province's most beloved singer-songwriters. Her jaw dropping vocals glide naturally over the crisp arrangement from Mitch and Maaruo, harnessing melancholic prose of somber romance. Instrumentally, percussive flair and fluttering pads carry the words in perfect harmony; A tune that will write it’s own story. 

Hernan Cattaneo needs no introduction, as he’s a masterful figure within melodic music. A massive inspiration for Maaruo and Mitch, it’s an honor to have him a part of the project as he remixes Same Light with his comrade Martin Garcia. Cattaneo and Garcia lengthen the arrangement, bringing progressive and club-driven tones to the sultry vocals. A masterpiece from the maestro for late night affairs.
