Erez, an Israeli-American singer-songwriter, always felt pulled by the need to keep moving.  Raised in a remote town by the Dead Sea, his wanderlust soon led him around the world, studying philosophy and cultures from Asia to New York.  Each city offered new insights and perspectives that left impressions in his thoughts and lyrics.  Connecting with the tones of Austin, TX, Erez has made it his home for over two years; the longest he has remained in one place to date.  When asked why he decided to stay, he replied in a musing tone, “Maybe it’s the heat that reminds me of where I came from that makes me want to stay here a little longer.”

Erez’s songs are personal in nature, celebrating the deeper, more pensive side of life; exploring themes such as love, loss, the formation and evolution of memories and the fragility of the human existence. His poetic subtle style leaves enough room for the listeners to reflect and relate to the songs from their own personal point of view. His music is sparse, combining a variety of styles; Folk, Rock, Blues, Americana, Jazz and even some Classical influences that trace all the way back to his Eastern European roots. Erez’s vocal performance has a storyteller quality to it, and his voice is distinct, soulful and full of character. Erez’s guitar playing is almost an extension of the lyrical content of his songs, shining through with warm tones and minimalistic phrases that are both delicate and intense.

The new album, “The Rose of Jericho”, was recorded and mixed to tape, with a fully analog production. The warm sound of the tape, Erez says, reminds him of his favorite records, and helped keep everybody honest; “The limiting aspects of tape, together with the live performance style it was recorded in compelled us all to deliver a genuine performance that was entirely rooted in the moment”. The record features ten songs that explore the conflict between one’s necessity to move on and his inability to let go of the emotional attachments that connect him to his past.
