Written when I was 17, though I suppose that is obvious. Didn't get it recorded until June of 2015 while I was in Montenegro. 

The Edge

Finished a first recording last night, I'll be sure to update this as we toss it around with the band.

Abstract Blues

This track will be one to two minutes longer by the time it's properly produced. My mic runs into problems with the length of time I play (you can hear it fade at the end), so that's why it's so short. Enjoy.

Wintersong

Fixed my mic, but sometimes it picks up on the guitar more than the voice. Oh well, this version is only temporary. Lyrics below, because you probably don't know what I'm saying. :)

His teeth are so white in that harvest smile

Goodnight

When I think of fall, wrapped in a blanket by a fireplace with friends and family, this is how I imagine it.

Summer's end brings the first pumpkins to harvest
Laying in their rows with no concern at all
For the feast being planned for the proletarian gluttons
Warm on the stove we stir an autumn protocol

Fall to the path, leaves to the earth
Quilting an orange cloth for the girl
Who rattles her bones in the breeze
In need of the warmth of this blackened hearth

Frail to the cold, night to the frost
Scatters the timid mouse to her den
The light of a life so small
She climbs into bed from a world exhausted

Celestial fires burn upon a mirrored reflection
Dotted in cold light, the ocean bleeds a smile
A crescent so bright, inviting all it encounters
Albescent  to the tides, its loneliness beguiles

The acrid sweet from the dying flicker of our candle
Consumed with ardour, it fights to stay alive
Shimmering in water adsorbed on the windows
Quivering it succumbs to rest its addled light

Feed to the worms, hope to the soil
A verdant year accedes to rot
Binding an earthy scent
To the air that spun about us in coils

Challenge an ancient foe

The idea... Boy it came quick
Like the dark green mountain rising out of the mist
Yawning  with a gaping maw
The coastal range held us in it's gnashing jaws

And the wolves that wailed out from the trees
Hiding in the shadows and the evergreens
Haunting the dark with a chilling choir
Cut over the tarn and alpine mire

We watched the oak leaves filter the sun
Warming the salt in the breeze and the brine in our lungs
The city might sleep until daybreak
But the forests and the sea, they sleep awake

Do you know the difference between the cedars and the firs?
The eagles and the seagulls?
The needles and the dirt?

Do you know when the tides get pulled?
It's a spirit because it's white

West Coast Sermon

Piper pulls the water in
And back out when the tide begins again
The water sends me out into the bay

And the nightly run made by the sea
When the summer sun's warmth tans our bodies
I'm drifting out beyond the quay

It's been the last eighteen years
A lifetime spent and so here's to
The place that raised me like a father

The Autumn rains bring about 
Yellow chanterelles from underground 
Foraging among the fallout 
 
At the foot of our mountain 
Then climb to the rocky top of 
Benson The city looks so small in the distance
