Dusting Covid Cobwebs

The Wu Wei Tea Temple in Fairfax, California, celebrated their 7th anniversary. I wanted to offer something special and so spent a good few weeks sifting through over 30 years of my music collection. I took a peak in my old Ableton Live sets, which i used in the early days of Ecstatic Dance in Oakland and found some stonking tracks that I had forgotten about. Wu Wei Tea Temple 2022 Live Set

It's been over 2 years since I taught a "yoga class".  I spend a considerable time choosing and mixing the music. There are four sections each of which indicated by a gong. The first section was inspired by the earth element. The second, water, the third fire and the fourth air. My guidance is completely spontaneous and unprepared. This is how I like to teach. No agenda - just a great sound track and let the energy in the room shift naturally. I threw a curve ball at the end of the water element stage - why? Why not? I like the track and gives me goosebumps. Enjoy!

The first Saturday of every month ALL VINYL invites classic DJ’s to spin an intimate "all vinyl" set, for a wildly up for it audience...We have a very special guest gracing our decks this month (Sat Feb 6th) - Gavin Hardkiss. 

Back in 1990’s San Francisco; Gavin, Scott and Robbie Hardkiss helped pioneer the American Underground/EDM/Rave scene with their club nights, warehouse parties and groundbreaking record label. They forged a new direction for dance music with a string of vinyl releases culminating in the seminal compilation Delusions Of Grandeur, which was re-released last year to huge acclaim.  I caught up with Gavin in his studio and asked him some soul searching questions in anticipation of his all vinyl set scheduled for Saturday February 6th 2016.

I created this track specifically for Osho's kundalini meditation - the shaking part where we get to release all the stress and rigidity from our body and mind.

A live edit of my Cacao and Sacred Sound Ceremony held on 3/17/18. During this mix we performed prayers, dynamic meditation, activating breath work and trance dance. Unfortunately Crystal playing the live fiddle could not be captured.

I designed this mix for a bodyworker friend of mine. He loves ambient psy chill music particularly an artist called Eguana. He was using spotify which have gaps between tracks which I thought I could improve by making a continuous mix with some other of my fav ambient artists - even a real oldschool track from Aphex Twin!

Here is the full continuous mix played at the annual Thanksgiving Yoga Supper Club. On the night we aligned with the flower essences of san pedro, blue lotus, sunflower and japanese knotweed.

There's nothing to say when the music is so good! 

But if we must then let's mention that London native, Eric Monkhouse, sure knows how to hold space for a kick ass experience. His choice selections and seamless mixing inspire only one direction - DEEP DOWN - towards the intimacy and longing of shared connection.  We've all felt it - those exquisite moments, when we close our eyes and throw our arms up in sheer joy and appreciation.  

Eric has a knack of prolonging those moments in a series of waves which wash over our bodies and psyches.  It's a home coming of sorts - that warm, spacious, womb like familiarity of the kick drum of our mother's heartbeat.  Drawing from a wide base of culturally diverse music, he'll use rhythms and warm bass frequencies to reconnect to our ancestral roots - when there was only a simple circle, fire and night sky.  Turn up to his gigs ready to feel grounded, centered and liberated. 

At the end and If the setting is appropriate, he loves allowing people to rest where they are and walk around wafting sounds of the didgeridoo.  Primal ear and heart medicine!
