This mix was created to celebrate the release of "Mir", the final single before the new BANCO DE GAIA album drops on September 6th. For over three decades, Toby Marks, aka Banco de Gaia, has been redefining world electronica, leaving an indelible mark on the global music scene. He has energized countless dancefloors and inspired many musicians. Renowned for blending acoustic and electronic sounds, Toby integrates themes and techniques from diverse cultures and traditions. He has collaborated with a range of talented musicians and producers, including Pink Floyd’s Dick Parry, Natacha Atlas, Tim Wheater, and Hawkwind, among others.  From cinematic ambience to pounding dancefloor fillers, Toby's music defies genres and draws from a rich array of musical sources and styles. His background in jazz and rock, combined with his passion for dance and world music, results in a glorious, uplifting, and at times, mesmerizing sound.

I didn't record this set live, but a lot of people asked for it, so I recreated it.

This is the special set made for a special event called "Techno Yoga". It's a mix of slow, melodic tunes, fast and pumping techno and ambient, so there's a lot going on in this 1.5 hour set!

“Inspiration” is an intimate set — the intimacy of feeling.

I invite you on a journey through a fragment of myself, a fragment of yourself, a fragment of ourselves.

This set draws its essence from a form of wealth that is individual, yet collective — and above all, universal.
A wealth that cannot be counted or acquired. A wealth born from the depths of one’s being, and transformed through transmission.

That wealth is none other than inspiration.

This set explores the textures of the world and its cultures, blending downtempo, organic and folktronic rhythms. Like dawn—a smooth transition from darkness to light—I feel this set is defined by a warm, ethereal acoustic resonance. I picture soft, almost tribal percussion sounds that invite you to be carried by movement without ever overpowering it.
It is crossed by voices, breaths, emotions, and wrapped in a particularly hypnotic, enchanting softness.

Between 90 and 100 BPM, it invites you to slow down — while crossing the 
boundaries of what can be measured, quantified, or defined.

This set is an invitation to inspiration.

Je vous invite à un voyage à travers un fragment de moi-même, un fragment de vous-même, un fragment de nous-mêmes. 

Ce set prend à sa source une forme de richesse individuelle, pourtant collective, mais surtout universelle. Une richesse de celles qui ne se compte pas, ne s’obtient pas. Une richesse qui prend naissance au plus profond de soi, et qui se transforme - se transmet. 

Cette richesse n’est autre que l’inspiration. 

Ce set explore les textures du monde et des cultures, mêlant rythmiques downtempo, organiques et folktroniques. Tout comme l’aube, transition fluide de l’obscurité vers la luminosité, je pense que ce set se characterise par une certaine résonance acoustique chaleureuse et éthérée. J’y vois des percussions feutrées - presque tribales, qui invitent à se laisser porter par le movement, sans jamais dominer. 
Il est traversé de voix, de souffles, d’émotions et enveloppé d’une douceur particulièrement hypnotique et envoûtante.

Entre 90 et 100 BPM, il vous invite à ralentir, tout en dépassant les frontières du mesurable, du quantifiable, du qualifiable. 

Ce set est une invitation à l’inspiration.

Eric Mouquet is also founder of Deep Forest, the pioneering ethno-ambient electronica band. He is on the cusp of a musical renaissance that promises to explore new directions, combinations and influences in ambient world music.
