Adam Beyer’s new EP titled ‘Teach Me’ is an accomplished piece of work that highlights Beyer's year thus far. 'Teach Me' starts with some eerie chords before the distinctive vocal kick in and the track drops into a rumbling techno track. ‘Darlek’ uses rhythmic beeps and huge synth stab to create a funky rhythm before the atmospheric pads create a beautiful setting for this incredible techno track. ‘Stop Talking’ is a deeper offering from Beyer using weird and unusual noises to create and interesting piece of work that is helped along by the throbbing bass underlying in the track. ‘Spaceman’ uses a rhythmic vocal, percussion and sub bass to turn this track into a funky techno piece.

Adam Beyer is back on Drumcode with an impressive array of tracks that will get the senses tingling and shows us what Drumcode is all about. These 4 tracks are deep and almost melancholic in their approach to techno, using effects to really help enforce an ambience only Beyer can achieve within his productions. The under lying throbbing of the drums drives this EP into the forefront of the heads down Drumcode sound and have been heard in many of Beyer’s phenomenal sets throughout the year.

A great philosopher (Samuel Johnson, not Ebeneezer Goode) once wrote… “our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks”. While it would be a stretch to suggest the Drumcode artist roster are closet philosophy fans, once one begins to unravel the tale that led to Jel Ford remixing the 2012 Alan Fitzpatrick hit ‘For An Endless Night’ and it is impossible to escape the unexpected enterprise and spirit of surprise that are at the heart of this exciting collaboration.

As fans of Adam Beyer’s label will testify, the two Drumcode names have more in common than just a label stable, they also share common ground with the peak-time melodic sound that has delivered many of the labels most memorable output. Ford being a much more recent addition than Fitzpatrick, whose history with the seminal Swedish imprint stretches back to 2009, however Ford’s history within techno goes back even further having released multiple EP’s through the early noughties on vintage UK techno labels including Dave Angel’s Rotation Records, Billy Nasty’s Tortured Records, Primate Recordings and Ford’s own Jericho imprint.

It is within this shared passion for uplifting synths and big room melodies that the ‘unexpected spark’ of creativity that led to Ford remixing Fitzpatrick can be found. An long-time admirer of Fitzpatrick’s work, Ford had developed an idea for his alternative version and secretly worked on the remix long before any discussion of the project had taken place. Once given the draft version, Fitzpatrick immediately endorsed the remix, excited to have an updated version to breath new life into what had become a familiar staple of his sets for the past two years. Parts were swapped and the end result being the barnstorming end-of-night monster presented here. A track that will be familiar with many having been the subject of much social-media furor since it first surfaced back in Autumn 2014.

As a skilled producer, DJ and presenter, B.Traits journey has seen her relocate from British Columbia, Canada to London, England; break the UK singles chart with her rave/bass hybrid track ‘Fever’; become an established and respected radio broadcaster for BBC Radio 1 through which she vehemently champions cutting edge underground electronic music; cement her reputation as a trusted selector at countless leading music events; and most recently become an advocate for drug education (with the a special documentary for BBC 3 entitled How Safe Are My Drugs?) within her adopted home.

Perhaps the biggest indicator of this sonic evolution has been through her work with BBC Radio 1. Having started out with a monthly “In New DJs We Trust” slot in 2012, her subsequent weekly Sunday night show, and later her emergence as the official cover for Annie Mac, B.Traits has proven to be a key broadcaster for the public station. Her journey at BBC Radio 1 has matured to the point where she is part of the foundations of the legendary Friday night line-up, bridging the gap between Pete Tong and the Essential Mix from 1-4am.

Anticipating B.Traits appearance at The Winter Social, we have an exclusive podcast from the renowned DJ. Located just a stones throw from London, at the beautiful Kent County Showground, the venue captures the great outdoors, as well as the intimacy of its warehouse space, setting the atmosphere for this massive single day event. The festival is organized and curated by Saved Records,the independent music label of premiere DJ Nic Fanciulli, who amongst his finest comrades of Internationally renowned DJ’s are preparing the real deal for this, the festival’s second edition.

“Your Mind“ started as a tool mix that was made just for fun after playing the vocal in a b2b set with Paul Ritch at Awakenings. After the tool version was made it got road tested and the reactions were so huge adam & i decided to turn it into a full track. Together we teamed up to add more percussion, snares and a rolling acid line to complete it’s transformation into this massive techno bomb. 100% mayhem alert!

Following the exhilarating ‘Baby’ on Drumcode, Tiger Stripes returns to Truesoul with a pair of retro-inspired house cuts. 

The Swede has one of the deepest discographies in house and techno, marked by an ear for deep grooves, dynamic arrangements and cleverly utilised vocals. In a career spanning 15 years, those-in-the-know won’t argue: he’s one of the industry’s most dependable and creative talents. 

His last outing on Truesoul was the inspiring cross-genera collaboration ‘Sound of The Bettest’
with Riva Starr. A year on, his return ‘Sneaking Hotdogs into People’s Pockets’ likewise revels in scribbling outside the lines. The title comes from a segment on the popular Youtube Channel Vlog Creations and the track similarly fizzes with the same sense of fun. Tiger Stripes says he wanted to create a cut influenced by his “guilty pleasure” of ‘90s influenced dance pop music, while crafting a work that stays true to his production style, imbued with plenty of depth, groove and soul. The resulting vocal-driven track does this with deft spirit. ‘Guidelines’ is similarly a trip down memory lane. Named after the club night he used to run in Stockholm, he extracts influenced from his home country’s fertile scene in the early 2000s, where disco-influenced house and techno ruled the roost.

If you been paying close attention to artists who have been making waves in the techno scene as of late then there's no doubt that Weska should be an artist who you've come across. Born in Canada but now based out of Germany, he's been gaining some serious support over the past few years with releases on labels like Drumcode and Octopus Recordings.

This year has already seen Weska embark on a new journey as well with his self-released Waves series picking up momentum with his recent third edition. But that wasn't enough to satiate his cravings for releasing absolute tunes as today, he's gifted us all with a free download of his "Don't Think" edit.

Originally crafted by renowned The Chemical Brothers, Weska reworked the tune so that it would fit seamlessly in his own sets. The result? Pure techno goodness. His spin has been perfect to listen to in nearly any setting whether it be your own living room or a massive stage at Creamfields where Adam Beyer and Cirez D played it out for a crowd of thousands.
