Sometimes people give you the best present without even realising.

While on lockdown Daddy duties, Michel De Hey's daughter had a friend come to play. It gave him that elusive golden studio moment where he could finish an idea he'd been working on, but hadn't found the time to take it over the line. That friend's name was Nova.

'Nova Was Here' pays homage to that classic foundation house sound as Michel puts his Roland SH101 through its paces. A purring bassline, soft focus jacking beats and lavish springy keys.

Long-time friend and kindred spirit, Spectrum founder Joris Voorn agreed and sealed the deal with a much heavier, pulsating 3am twist on the rework. Michel calls it a 'slapintheface' remix and enjoyed every moment of the two weeks he could play it to real life dancefloors until clubs shut back down in The Netherlands. Another stunner from the label boss and a mix that can finally be unveiled for all to enjoy.

Rose Ringed is back with a brilliant dancefloor approved three-tracker on his own Closed Eyes Recordings imprint. 'The Journey' EP is pure Rose Ringed - high energy, fast and euphoric with just an edge of melancholy, referencing the trance CDs which were the soundtrack and emotional catharsis of his childhood. This EP will hit you in the heart. 

'You're Already There' has synths - the growling bassline, the slow-build chords, and the fast, choppy melodic riffs - competing between those arresting trancey breakdowns. 

'Reaching for Paradise' has a joyful flow with cascades of playful synth melody, and a spoken vocal motif, to hold even a champion multitasker like a blissed-out deer in heaven's headlights.

'Hold Tight' is insistent, commanding, with speedy scattery synth melody, powerful beat and drums, and a subtle flavour of Depeche Mode in the aftertaste. Just beautiful, lend it your ears, you won't want them back.

Following the fevered reception of their 2018 single “HAL,” the union between main stage lovemaker Kölsch and techno iceman Tiga has returned with “Hand in Hand,” a rapturous exercise in sacral catharsis that many are calling the ultimate set closer. 

Emboldened to use his natural speaking voice for the first time on the title track, Tiga is eager to open up about this sentimental departure from his usual fare: “When it comes down to it, I’m an emotional frogman, When I hear a beating heart, I dive right in heart-first.”

Meanwhile, B-side “Almost Everything” takes the vibe into Kölsch’s signature indescribable euphoric heights. So indescribable in fact that we had to ask BO, Turbo’s proprietary AI and Metadata Scraper, to analyze the track based on tempo, emotional valence, and “fun factor”. His conclusion: “Total banger.” Thanks, BO!

Reflecting on just what he’s achieved here with his Danish friend Kölsch, Tiga is characteristically thoughtful: “Would you rather have a gun in your hand, or a hand in your hand? If you even have to think about the answer, you need to open your heart ASAFP because nothing less than the future of love and music hangs in the balance. It’s entirely up to you."
