TROJAN HORSE

Michael Winograd wrote this chorus. He sang it at the upright piano in gentle&loving mockery of Randy Newman. We wrote the remainder of the tune together, and then I went off alone until I had four verses about gentrification in Los Angeles. Dave Flaherty (on drums) and Benjamin Lazar Davis (on bass) joined me at Converse Rubber Tracks to do the basics. Nearly a year later, J.E. Sunde sang the six-part choir in my living room when he had a free afternoon in NYC.

i'm a sucker for syncopated melodic lines. built a track around it here. ended up becoming something that felt reminiscent of sade... but of course, needed a flip cause why not? wait for it in the bridge. someone collaborate with me and write lyrics that spawns the next generation of children.
