Shakib Jakir and Eric Shans return to Canopy Sounds for their debut EP on the label 'Ardour'. It's a mini-storybook of 3 tracks that highlight emotional arcs from start to finish and a testament to their abilities as producers. 'Ardour' opens the EP up with a careful stew of percussive elements and light melodic touches. Like watching a flower blossom in slow motion, the track opens up with layers of beautiful strings and a french poem which emphasizes its heart filled core. It's one for the lovers as you could picture the sun descending under a pristine coastline as it plays, and producers Death On The Balcony remix it into a drum laden gem with a building, cinematic melody that washes over like a gentle ocean wave on the sand. 'Yuhi (Sunset)' comes next and it focuses on a few piano passages that ebb and flow throughout. They're the center of the piece as layered drums weave between the note progression of the bass line as it fills the bottom end of the frequency range. Dramatic atmospheres drive it home, and it's perfect for those late nights after the party winding down. 'Empyrean' finishes things off on a groovier note as big pads wistfully play in the distance over the top of shuffling drum patterns. A big Balkan chant comes into focus later on here which sounds like it's being yelled to the heavens from the top of the mountains, and Shakib's vocal can be heard in this as well. Moving and expansive, this track concludes the EP on a superb high note.

A legend of Bristol’s dance music scene and an Anjunadeep icon, Jody Wisternoff opened 2020 with his spectacular twelve-track LP ‘Nightwhisper’.
