The next 30 seconds felt like a bad dream frozen in time
He made his get away and we all got away..alive

Wrote this when trying to write a love song for my wife - decided to write a song about writing a love song instead :)

Love Song

Years ago, when I was just a kid, my mom recorded 7 covers, one of which was Leon Russell’s “A Song for You”. I loved hearing her play piano and sing that song, but never took the words to meaning until she passed at a young age in 2006 due to cancer. After her death, I played the recorded tracks over and over but the song that stuck out the most was “A Song for You”, especially the line “I love you in a place where there’s no space or time.” 

This song is about my experience interpreting lines from that song before and after her death.

I grew up in Arkansas, where I currently live. A short stent in NC, and with my wife’s support, I dusted off my guitar and dove into songwriting. My genre is Country/Singer-Songwriter/Americana, anything that tells a story and has meaning.
