I definitely think having some work experience is essential even when one receives no pay. First of all, unpaid work can help people acquire knowledge and learn numerous skills that aren’t taught in schools. These jobs or internships also teach people essential social skills such as communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, all of which are essential for one’s future jobs. Further, many employers will not hire new graduates without any experience, so having some practical work experience, paid or unpaid, is necessary. Doing unpaid work shows employers that you are willing to work hard to fulfill your goals. This a key trait that all employers look for!
