Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave imprint has grown from strength to strength since its inception in 2016. With an impressive catalogue of releases from established techno heavyweights, aspiring fresh talent and the boss himself, the label enters its’ third year equipped and ready to dominate the charts. 

We Are The Brave started 2019 with a bang, offering up Alan’s colossal 7 track ‘11:11 The Awakening EP’. Alan has also focused his attention on the events game, curating the second edition of his own ‘Alan Fitzpatrick’s Day’ festival and pioneering his brand at iconic venues across the world, including Fabric London, Motion Bristol, Watergate Berlin and Schimanski New York. 

Fitzpatrick’s follow up release on We Are The Brave comes in the form of a two track collaboration with Grammy Award Winning duo CamelPhat. 

‘Kona’ brings the relentless energy you would expect from a collab project of this magnitude. With its’ pummeling kick, synth stabs and evolving chord progression, the track encapsulates Fitzpatrick’s acclaimed rave style. 

‘Liberation’ takes a deeper course. The superbly placed percussive programming blends flawlessly with its’ chunky modulated leads while the entrancing, hedonistic vocal gives way to a vigorous groove. This track is oozing with melodic-techno finesse. 

“It’s always exciting for me to work with new artists and people that I think can bring a different take on things in the studio. As individual artists our styles are fairly different, and that always sparks some magic in the studio. This time round it was techno magic, in the form of Kona and Liberation” says Alan.

This first edition features label debuts from AARYON, and Daniel Blackman, and the welcome return of Russell, and WHYT NOYZ. In ‘Snakes & Ladders’, dynamic producer WHYT NOYZ dives deeper into funky synth twists and subtly spirited melody. Blending minimalist plucks, snappy vocals, and flawless percussion, he closes out the EP with an upbeat energetic flourish and a definitively slick, prime time groove.

Slovenian DJ and producer Umek has released Vibrancy, the second EP in as many months on his own 1605 label, out 31st May.

The weighty, three-track release comes off the back of April’s 19119, and sees the veteran artist combine a tougher techno sound with more emotive, melodic elements. The EP’s title track is the clearest example of this, with a pounding kick-drum making way for a groove-laden breakdown halfway through. ‘Acid Rain’ is a heavier proposition, a full acid workout that harks back to Umek’s rave-era beginnings. Loosening off somewhat, closing track ‘Constellations’ is underpinned by a steady, measured groove.
   
"Vibrancy" is evidence of a versatile artist capable of pairing emotional melodies with the heaviest of techno beats, and is out 31st May via 1605.

Vibrancy EP

Redimension welcomes newcomers Richey V & Simone Zino to the label with an exclusive collaboration from the young Italian duo.

“Hysteria” is the first collaborative EP to come from the couple, and it does not disappoint. The eponymous track creates tension with a stripped back groove, and uses hypnotic synths and an arpeggiated lead synth to generate an extra wave of intensity, resulting in a brutal workout, worthy of its namesake.

Bulgarian talent Timmo returns to Monika Kruse’s Terminal M imprint to deliver his ‘Starlight’ EP ahead of his forthcoming LP on the label later this year.

The title track ‘Starlight’ opens proceedings and sets the tone as soaring, driving lead synths meet rich bass patterns, whilst ‘Connect’ takes up a darker, more menacing aesthetic as resonant bass licks and eerie female vocal interjections fuse amongst hefty kicks. Last up, ‘Belle Epoque’ concludes the package combining ever-evolving melodies, warping synth lines and slick, refined percussion throughout to shape up the EP. Filth on Acid’s massive 2019 continues with more techno power, this time from the esteemed duo of OC & Verde. This pair have had plenty of support from tastemakers like Pete Tong who announced them as ‘New Names for 2018, Danny Howard who made one of their remixes Friday Fire on his Radio 1 show and Adam Beyer. They have released their huge tunes on Bedrock and Knee Deep In Sound before now and often climb into the Beatport Top 10.

Opener Menace is a bulky tune with rumbling bass and dark synths. It is a thunderous cut that will rattle the walls of any club and has a wild acid line to really make it ignite. Loadstar then gets cosmic with sci-fi melodies and withering synth lines that take you into the galaxy as the shuffling drums roll on. Last of all Cobra hits hard again, with more laser-like synths and heavy drums all demanding you dance.

This is another fierce EP from this fine label and essential duo.
