Premiere: Villaça - so much, almost nothing [Lost Gems 001 Vol. II]

Troally's 373rd edition's signed by Érica, a music producer, DJ, singer and teacher who was born, raised and based in the city of Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, and whose career spans almost 15 years.

Érica, who's no stranger here, makes her debut at Troally and brings a taste of Brazilian dance floors with a selection that focuses on the strength of national production. In addition to her own tracks, she delves into the rhythms that make up the kaleidoscopic Brazilian electronic music and goes from house to breaks in an excellent mix lasting almost an hour.

MAWW Records is proud to present the amazing singer-songwriter Érica Alves with her solo project called "Érica". Born in Nova Friburgo, countryside of Rio de Janeiro, Érica has taken part in several different musical projects. She started doing lo-fi recordings using a Yamaha PSR series at age 12, played in psychedelic rock bands like "Café da meia noite" and "Motherfunk" in college, and currently lives in Sao Paulo working with the groups "The Drone Lovers" and "Anvil FX", both artists of our label. 

Most of the songs on this tape were composed by Érica in 2009-2010. She moved to São Paulo and began working on these solo compositions with her friend Pedro Zopelar in his home studio. 

"At first we recorded the demos in my room. We start creating grand arrangements with orchestra plug-ins, multiple channels, an entire band, but we had not achieved a truly authentic sound. Only after a while, when I bought my first Portastudio cassette, we decided to put this record to life. We rearranged everything in 4 channels and finally got the result we strived for! Something that sounds really soulful and homemade, without covering up the true vibes with pitch correctors or other digital resources. Nowadays, digital home studio tracks do not sound like they are made in bedrooms, so we found a way to give authenticity back to home recording," says Pedro Zopelar, producer and creator of MAWW Records.

Érica é produtora musical, DJ, cantora e professora residente de Niterói, RJ. 
Foi através de seu live act de sintetizadores e vocais, misturando jazz, música eletrônica e pós-punk, que Érica garantiu sua participação no circuito nacional de música independente, a partir da qual se manteve em circulação em festivais e eventos de música eletrônica, garantindo participação em projetos como The Drone Lovers, residências artísticas pela Red Bull Music Academy (São Paulo, Paris e Montréal), e duas indicações de Melhor Produtora Musical no WME Awards. 
Com seu álbum "Beautiful" (Baphyphyna, 2017), ganhou reconhecimento como produtora musical, e desde então tem lançado singles e EPs em selo renomados como Subliminar, Banana Gold, In Their Feelings, Me Gusta Records, Sorry Daddy Rec, U’reguay Records e seu próprio selo, Baphyphyna.
Como DJ, Érica tem uma carreira consistente e de destaque e liderança na cena nacional, já tendo feito turnês nas cinco regiões do país, fomentado eventos e diversos novos talentos. Já se apresentou em grandes casas, festas e eventos como D-Edge, ODD, Selvagem, Mamba Negra, Carlos Capslock, Warung Beach Club, Tomorrowland Brasil, TribalTech, Universo Paralello, Caos Campinas e Café Jeri.
Além disso, Érica também transita por diversos Listening Bars das principais capitais do país, com seu amplo repertório de música brasileira, R’n’B, clássicos do Baile Charme, anos 80, house e disco. Já esteve nos decks de bares como o pioneiro do gênero, Caracol Bar (SP), Auê (SP), Heavy House (SP), Comuna (RJ) Celeste Lavradio (RJ), Macuna (RJ), Calma (RJ), KSA Centro (RS), o que a qualificou para assumir a função de DJ do SESC Pulsar por dois anos seguidos, 2023 e 2024.
