¡PALETA! Is a party I threw in BKNY. Most people know me through the soultronica series but quiet-as-kept I’ve been playing global bass out for the last 6 yrs. The story goes, this year I left Burningman to fly to NY for 48hrs to do an event. Under normal circumstances that would have been strange and fine but with the rain and hail at the beginning of the week slowing the populating of the city to a halt, many processes were delayed including my ability to provide soundscape for my peeps the days leading up to my departure. 

As a dj I feel quite apart from the music presented on the Playa overall. Interestingly, coupled with that feeling of isolation are experiences of the most love and feverent support from people in my huge camp. 

Since this year I was unable to sound-captain artcar gliding across the desert I took the sensation of unfulfilled expression and encapsulated it in Soultronica Vol.6. I enjoy being clever. The mix came together organically around our Burningman themes and is chalked full of secret-society catch phrases and glimmerings of shared magic and symbolism. I’m glad to share it with my camp, Laughing Monkey and the BM community at-large.

Good Good is a monthly tropical R&B party thrown by DJs Von Kiss and EricaLandia (Formerly DJ Eko).  We took these bad babes from Good Good on a ride abound their neighborhood, Echo Park.  This is what it sounded like!

Between you and me, Erica's got a huge crush on the intersection of future soul and future bass and also keeps an eye out for the intersection of indigenous music and electronic production as well. When she’s not fully focused on playing Soultronica vibes, Erica’s favorite modality is playing eclectic sets that often span all the way from Nu Disco to Azonto. 

Known for being extremely versatile and playing good, soulful music tastefully, Ericalandia is a master of moods. DJ EKO aka Ericalandia (LA/NYC/worldwide), is a global sound ambassador with a penchant for cutting edge music that was born out of programming a decade-long radio show paralleling Gilles, J-Boogie, Oliver Wang and Garth Trinidad. Consistently acknowledged as an ‘ahead-of-the-curve’ tastemaker and initiated into journalism for the connoisseurs’ nexus of urban & electronic music, URB Magazine in the 2000’s, she’s now is a staff writer for Okayfuture [the electronic branch of the Soulquarian & Questlove’s Okayplayer]. Her first steps in those early radio & magazine years included earning her gold plaques on her walls for D’angelo & Mos Def.
