This is a secretive songwriting experiment that required the guile of Dave Madden, Akina Adderley and Lauryn Gould. The three of them each independently wrote a song section, separated and siloed from the others: no specified key, tempo, time signature, genre, vibe, nothing. Dave Madden then gathered these unrelated ingredients and played Dr. Frankenstein, stitching together Lauryn’s waltzing lament in B flat minor, Akina’s hard-driving Motown idea in Db major, and Dave's own anthemic rock anthem in E major. It was a fascinating surgery that required ample use of musical duct tape and WD-40. Take a listen to “Everything At The Same Time” and see what you think.
